1995 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ43 - Listing on BaT
This is a left-hand drive model that was imported to the US from Colombia by Cahaba Cruisers in December 2020. The truck was purchased in March 2021 by its current owner and relocated to Utah where it is registered and titled. The truck is finished in light metallic green over replacement gray upholstery, and power is from a new, remanufactured 4.5-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and new exhaust and catalytic converter. Additional equipment includes a removable hardtop, custom soft top made in Pakistan in interior matching gray color, air conditioning, aftermarket touchscreen audio, new Nitto mud-terrain tires. The odometer shows just under 260k kilometers (~161k miles) and is offered with import documentation, build receipts, and clean Utah registration and title.

The truck also features black powder coated front ARB bumper that carries a Warn VR EVO 10-S 10K winch with synthetic rope, and custom rear bumpers sporting dual rear swing outs carrying full-size spare and gas can. Nighttime illumination is handled by 7” STEDI Carbon Black LED projector headlights, and 8” ARB Solis driving lights arranged with one spot and one flood beam.

Custom machined 16″ alloy wheels wear 285/75R16 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires mounted over rebuilt knuckles and Aisin manually-locking hubs up front. Lift is provided by OME springs with greasable shackes and nitrocharger shocks at both front and rear. A matching spare is mounted to the rear passenger side door. Stopping is assured by a completely rebuilt master and brake booster connected to new disks and calipers up front, and drums out back.

Inside features replacement gray vinyl seat covers and vinyl floor mats. Amenities include power windows and locks, a lockable glovebox, a double-din touchscreen stereo head unit with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and hands-free phone capability is linked to a set of 3-ways in the doors and a pair of 6x9 3-way speakers in carpeted enclosures located in the cargo area, and Toyota factory locker dial connected to ARB lockers front and rear.

The carbureted 4.5-liter inline-six was replaced by a newly remanufactured powerplant in May 2021 and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case.

All build of items outlined above, among others, performed by Cruiser Outfitters, Extreme Auto, and State Automotive, all Land Cruiser specialists located in Utah. Screenshots of build receipts included below.

Additional photos, including underbody photographs and video footage are available upon request.

Soooo close to what I'm looking for, why did they go with the 4.5EFI when installing a new Reman?
The reman is a direct replacement 1FZ-F 4.5-liter inline-6, carburated instead of -FE.

Right, I meant why didn’t they swap to FE.
I wasn't involved in that decision, my guess is my BIL just went with what was recommended or available, possibly to keep it stock. But, I'll ask and post up here if there was another reason other than keeping it stock.

Any history on the engine that went into it? Mileage, reason for rebuild, etc.?

Are the rear interior panels removed for photos?

Where's the compressor if ARB locker's?

I'm don't have the details on why the engine rebuild, but I can find out. Actual mileage is unknown as the odometer was frozen at 259,999 kilometers when purchased, although pretty much all wear items except transmission and transfer case have been rebuilt.

Rear panels are sitting in my garage waiting for new pushpins to install. BIL had removed them to have custom sidepanels made but never got around to it. Factory panels will be going back in.

Compressor is in the engine bay, factory dial/switch is mounted under the driver's side dash near right knee.

Clean FJ overall. The front fenders have seen better days . Interior looks great. LHD is a win. GLWS!

Is this soft top only or does it have the FRP top too?

@Tigerstripe40 - Also have the fiberglass hard top. It's white with embossed "LandCruiser" logo on upper rear sides. (Ignore the white crumbles on the trailer, it's drywall scraps from my basement build)

For whoever is intersted, I checked this rig out in person and it is awesome. It would make a solid daily driver or workhorse without worrying about the cosmetics (as a 4x4 toy should be!). It looks clean from a few feet away but if you wanted to burden yourself with a show car, it would need some light rust remediation on the cowl and couple other minor areas and a full body respray. It drives well, nothing sounded loose or soft, engine seems strong and smooth idle, I know a LOT went into sorting this one as well as possible to be headache free for a a long time. Seller is extremely nice and transparent. I'd be a buyer if I could talk myself out of waiting for an EFI version. I hope it finds a good home.

It does look well sorted but it's still a Colombia Rig !! If was priced accordingly it most likely sell 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, that's the problem with these 70 series. Not to diminish what the seller is wanting for it, as they probably paid a high price to begin with, especially during the Covid buying frenzy. But you can buy a similar vehicle in Columbia with low milage (60K miles for example) from local dealers or private parties for less than $20K U S. Dollars. Price to import is $2500 to $5K depending on if you do all of it yourself or hire someone.

But here we go back to simple economics of supply and demand. Not too many 70's running around the U.S. compared to other parts of the World.

I would love to have this rig, but for the price, that would be hard to justify as it would just be a toy for me.

Agreed !

Little bump and big thanks to @fronton, appreciate the honest review and recommendation.

I agree with everything said here and appreciate the feedback. Curious to know what others think is a fair price?

Do the Columbian ones have A/C or are they like the European ones where it seems to be very rare.

To be fair it has probably $10k - $15k worth of accessories ( Paki Roof, Front Bar, Winch, rear Bar with swing away, OME Lift , infotainment wheels tires etc ) so even at $20k purchase shipping and then other unknowns you numbers pretty much supports his asking price and anyone who has imported from over seas know damn well nothing is as listed or sold so being able to see it stateside and built makes it more then equal anything you can find down there.

Here is an example of what I see on Many Columbian Rigs ... nothing like booster adapters on rigs sold as Resto's from Columbia.

And some Columbian OEM fender hardware lol

And of course it would not be Columbian without some bare metal respray body work and this is the good stuff ..

Buy stateside, stay safe :)

I think you still got 2019 pricing in your head as prices for Land Cruisers shot up worldwide , and just like anywhere else in the world what you see advertised online overseas often isn't as described . I think the sellers price is fair and lhd versions will probably continue to rise or at a bare minimum stay where they are , the bargain hunters will need to look at rhd models as they already are coming down.

The cool fact about lhd 73's is that they where not available everywhere and production stopped in 2002 so they will continue to be somewhat "rare" especially the lhd HZJ73's as they where only sold new in a handfull countries in Europe and sales drastically dropped after 1996 so those are the hardest ones to find .

Just an FYI but that roof will have issues if you don't add some bracing up front while it is sitting or if you drive like that she will crack . The beak needs support.
Those FRP tops are sturdy enough to hold up like that , they aren't as weak as the 40 series tops
