Hard to brush on because it dries fast. Use only about 2 oz at a time, because of drying issues, I used a paper expresso cup and a 1 1/2 bush, keep the cup wall wet and your brush at all times.

anybody ever rolled it on

I have not tried rollin it on, but I know this stuff melts plastic, expcept #5 plastic. So foam rollers are out. and would have to be a short nap roller with no fuz much

I've gotten my best results from rolling it on. Use a roller cover made for epoxy paints - that will hold up to the chemicals. Something like this. You can get them in both the full width and short width rollers.

RUST CAP BAND hammerite is the type of paint that started this thead. So dont overlook that little fact. and home depot does not sell that brand but some ace hardwares do.

The Rust Cap stuff is definitely far superior to the "hammered" finishes that other brands sell. I've used the others for some "decorative" projects, but there is no comparison between them for durability.

Did you use any thinners when rolling?

Funny, found this thread from Google, while researching paints that I currently have in a spray can. Woody must be doing something right with SEO.

This floor really came out nice. I'd like to know how its still holding up.

Nope. No thinner for rolling. As I said, though, make sure the roller cover is made for epoxies or it will just disintegrate.

Hammerite is good stuff. Tough to get a good finish on large flat surfaces. But sure looks cool if you pull it off.
I used spray bombs on the drawers and rolled the main box.

I used Hammerite rust cap for over 10 years making steel skate parks. That stuff is bullet proof when put on right. I used the small pink johnny rollers that people use to roll behind toilets. The hammered look is very forgiving. I preferred rolling over brushing. Brands are very important in my opinion. Home Depot used to carry the Rust Cap brand of Hammerite but switched over to Rustolium brand about 10 years ago. I can only recommend the Rust Cap version of the paint. The rollon type is more durable. When I used to roll on the Hammerite from Rust Cap, I used to see small gooey spider webs float off of the roller. The paint is sticky. I felt it covered a multitude of sins, from scratches to pitting. When rolling it on, it would level out into an orange peel texture. I only used hammered and not the smooth. I painted a rollbar using the Rustolium brand of black hammered paint and it lost its shine a year later.

this stuff is great, using the yellow for a John Deere snow blower restore

I have a BushHog 15' batwing shredder we are going to paint when we get it back from the repair shop (bi-annual maintenance, slip clutches, bearings, blades). We are going to get several gallons of RED and BLACK and some brushes and get after it!

Who knows ... the 74 FJ40 might get a floorboard job after that.
