Good point... I need to learn to not give a s*** about the paint. Funny thing is, when I went to see it, I assumed it would be oxidized and scratched up. I was almost disappointed to see it was so well kept. Almost....

Or trade it. I'll give you my 80 (with lockers) plus $1000. :D

Tempting. :) speaking of lockers.. thoughts on Aussie lockers? Rear only, front and rear?

Rear only

Front would require a part time 4wd kit to utilize.

Great solution temp or permanent. Many observe them acting like selectable as in not locking up untill center diff is engaged.

James, I do not know you but you have expressed that you have no experience with these trucks or off road so I will speak of this like you are a Newb. I have also not seen your truck or how it is built.

Once you go past 2.5-3" of lift on an 80 the entire design of the geometry of the rig is pretty much gone. Everything done past that point requires a "fix" to correct negative side effects. 40" tires only compound issues. The size and weight both have negative effects all around. All this together is hard enough to handle for someone with experience, all it is going to do for you is teach you bad habits because rather than driving the trail you will be driving the truck.

I'm wondering if there's some way to avoid damage?
37's and 4" springs

Best answer if you want to keep the truck, although I would go to 2.5" and 35". That will give you a very capable truck that will also have fair/good street manners.

Or trade it. I'll give you my 80 (with lockers) plus $1000. :D

No idea what you paid, but this may well be the deal of the year

my lexus is 2.5 with 35s, but i don't have sliders, so i'm hesitant to try daniel

also no lockers, although i do have a winch...

I have the Ironman 2" (around 2.25" lift), and 33's, and the first time I did Daniel I was driving against traffic, going down. No lockers needed, no issues. Took the left side line going down (right side if going up). I didn't know there was a "direction" in the trail and 50 thousand jeeps were trying to get up the hill. Looong wait.

Bump to remind this is still on.

I would like to go...but.....I am working in calabash all week

Soooo, sipping on your morning coffee and thinking to yourself, "I really don't want to go to work today"

Have we got a solution for you.

I couldn't get there in time if I wanted to ... Sitting in the airport in Bozeman, MT waiting for the gate agents to have their coffee and get to work ...

Yeuns have fun today! I want to see lots of pics of the monster 80

I wish this was later in the week, can't go until I get rear caliper replaced, don't want to endanger anyone or the forest sparking a fire. Then Darin would kick my ass too.

This one?

Biscuit be big.
But officially broken in now too

Everyone got a lil carnage today on a great day in the woods. Didnt see a single truck and hit every trail but slab pile.

Steve -- trashed side steps compliments of my spotting
James-- broken flare and rear bumper corner
Rice-- tagged a tree and cut a new km2 :(
Me-- broken exhaust mount and crushed tip

Steve. Great meeting you and beautiful 450 you got there. Sorry bout moving the slider purchase up on your build schedule :hillbilly: Awesome driving by the way :steer: I hope you'll join us again for more fun in the future.

Great pics. :) thanks for the new nickname for the truck. Sorry I chickened out on Daniel. So I guess that makes me and my truck chicken and biscuit. :)

James, I'm glad I'm not there only one who went big for a first truck. I'm a little nervous buying a truck with 37s and me having no experience. Guess I just need to man up and join y'all once the trucks in.

For clarity, it's not my first. I have a 40 as well. But certainly I'm very new at real wheeling..

Sorry ... don't have much for pictures this trip.

A shout to Jason for the great spots and for leading.

Steve .... a pleasure getting to meet you sir. Welcome to ONSC and to trail riding. You and your 450 did great. If there is ever any doubt why we would spend the day in a hot dusty bowl of rocks all anyone ever needs to do is look over and see you smiling.

4 80's, 75% locked.

Steve's NICE 450. Note the really good looking running boards. Modifications pending.

Got Ol' Biscuit to flex those bumper ends right off of there.
