Never been to Uwaharrie - but I'm now out of work so I have lots of extra time.

Would like some advice on where to jump in and get on some basic 'moderate' or easier trails.

In other words, what's a good route for someone that's newish to wheeling - that won't get me stuck on any of the crazy trails.?

And does anyone want to go with me during the week?

Makes two of looking for work. Let me get through this next week and perhaps we can convince some others for a weekday trip.

Hey make that 3 of us :D

I may be up for a weekday trip and would have to bring 45 and rely on 1st gear vs 4wd but that should keep us on the tame stuff.

Off top of head is think you'd be good on

Falls dam
Wolf den
Sawmill
Slab pile

The last two me being least familiar with. Or run down with rice and I in the 80s pending confidence assessment and ride around to see exactly what's there first hand before d(r)iving in wheels first

I'm all for d(r)iving in wheels first :hillbilly: How does 6/17 or 6/18 fit schedules?

At the last work day I attended I ran the 44 up and down Falls Dam in 2WD with sacked springs. Break over can be an issue if you try to take the whoops head-on, but if you set up at a good steep angle to the obstacle and dive back across at the crest, you'll be fine. You'll look like this guy :steer:, but you'll have fun.
Like JFZ80 said, Wolf's Den should be fine. The other two I can't speak of.

We get enough guys to slip off during a week day, maybe even rent Big Creek if weekdays is doable there? In Uwharrie, but private land and awesome guides.

James ... I'm in with what Jason said. An idea and something we've done in the past ... take the 80's down (Sorry, everyone rags on me but my 40 really is a street queen) and you bring your 40. We can begin the day on the easier trails with you in the 40 and then park it so you can ride along, see what else there is, and then measure what your comfort level is.

I like the idea of a weekday trip! If this thread (or the JohnVee thread) becomes a "let's plan it" deal then all I need is until about 6/16 to wrap up the school year.

I'm with the 6/16 or later idea ....

17-19 would be good for me ....

Don't wish to cross post with JohnVee's "Weekday URE" thread but looked like the talk of locking on a date was centered here.

Looks like for me Thursday the 18th is best.

What say everyone else? Does that work?

Well, Sam DID pull an old thread from 2013, so let's use this one instead.
