Upper tail gate fix or replacement? (6 Viewers)

Hi there,

Brand new here. I have a new to me 2005 LC 100. And the upper tailgate is completely rotten. Its so bad im afraid to wash the truck. Is there any place I can buy a replacement and if so how much. The LC is white and it also has a back up camera.

I had a body shop replace my lower tailgate recently, but honestly I'm not sure how one goes about getting / replacing body parts. Talk with local body repair shop and see what they suggest.

Some others with more experience may chime in here too.

Also need to track down and make sense of why it rotted out, third brake light leaking?

Go to www.partsouq.com , enter vin, and check under body group to find OEM part number which will help you do some searching around for used or junkyard parts.

This is for 98-02 so part numbers may be different and buying new would be pretty spendy + may need paint? IDK

I searched on ebay and Google and got a few hits but man they are all expensive and then you facotor in shipping. I'd say to look for a local junk yard or consider repairing it DIY or at a body shop

I used car car-part.com. It’s been a few years, but I also bought an 05 that had a lot of rust on the rear hatch. The one I found was a different color. Had to have it repainted but it’s been great ever since. Just make sure you seal the third brake light. That’s where the water gets in and causes all of the problems.

Also a heads up. If you do go with partsouq due to it being a little cheaper, I just got hit with a customs fee on top of shipping AFTER it had hit the states. I’ve ordered from them before and never had that happen so I assume it’s a recent thing. There was no warning that it was going to happen. DHL just sent me a bill and said they’d return the items if it wasn’t paid immediately. I think it was something to the tune of 23% of invoice price.

Someone said you’re in Canada that probably won’t affect you. Carry on.
