It can be a tool box/whatever, with a waterproof latching lid . Or I suppose one could leave the lid off and use as a second battery box? A group 27 will fit with ease.

Good looking work but I am curious why not just use a battery tray. I got a 2nd battery tray in my rig and it holds fluids, a funnel, and rags really well.

I like fabricating things and I like having different things than the usual.

Bottom is installed.

It’s a piece of fibreglass honeycomb, the material that a bathroom wall and non structural bulkheads for an aircraft are fabricated with.

Anyways I picked at it again.

The reservoir is from a Corolla as is the mount. I’ll cut this overkill aluminum extrusion to tap and mount.

2 feet on the bottom, one cushion isolator and one a spacer.

At this point this is probably just a prototype.

I wish I had fabbing skills like that I even sold my welder, anything I welded looked like some had thrown a handful of chicken s*** at the job!

My excuse for not giving it a ago though is mine is diesel HDJ80 but 12 volt including the starter, but allows me to have an 'aux' battery for the fridge.

My welding skills are pretty good, after I practice.

That’s the problem with welding. It can go 6 months to a year or more before I touch it. Then the first few welds suck but that’s all I’m usually doing, a few welds so the typically suck.

But when I have to do a bunch for several days they tend to be quite nice.

Looks great. I'm eager to see if dividers or straps will be needed to keep the stuff from bouncing around, or if it will be packed so tight with tools that straps won't be needed. A lot of guys like to carry around the big socket for the front end, that may be able to be secured on the outside of the tool box.

If you're ever concerned about nutserts slipping, put a small amount of epoxy on the crush area before installing them. I've seen them slip a few times and it's pretty frustrating. I'm not saying yours will slip, but the epoxy tip may help someone reading this later who has never used nutserts before.

I insert them with locktite after I clean them with isopropyl alcohol
