is the insulation under the hood for sound deadening? Mine is fully intact but it's sagging to the point that my manifold, power steering pump and air cleaner have made an impression on it. Unless that how the factory designed it. I know there's an issue with the temp gauge and gas gauge using a common conductor, (I.E., when I fill up my tank, that's the only time the temp gauge will read almost up to the red but falls back down quickly. Doesn't do it if I'm down to 3/4 tank.) but wouldn't that insulation absorb and hold in heat?

The block and radiator holds the majority of the heat. After you shut it off and turn back on the temp gauge often is pegged at the top, all that heat has no place to go.

Hood insulation really doesn't effect much and certainly is not your problem

From what I understand must hood panels like that in our trucks do a multitude of things. Heat, sound, and even reduce damage from broken belt impact. Of course the panel being damage or sagging shouldn't adversely affect the function of the cruiser. I just replaced mine along with new plastic rivets. If some of the rivets are missing it might be an easy fix, just order a couple and pop them in to keep it off the engine equipment. But like @Landpimp it shouldn't affect how the engine runs.

@TheNeek Did you replace the insulation with a good used one or are they still available new? Curious where you found it as mine is also sagging and a little chewed up.

Thanks

@Rustic76 Still available OEM new. I got it and the new snaps.

Good info. Mine's shot. What does the insulation retail for?

Well, since you're using my 3rd party services. It will be $300 shipped to you.

It retails around $200 or so. I've seen it as cheap as $173 but then either have it shipped to you for a fair bit or go to closest dealer and have them cut you a deal or hooked up with wholesale. @beno can help ya out.

having recently removed mine to fix the separated ribs, it is much noisier without it...
