I've had my 01 Hundy for about a month now, and I still can't decide something. My truck is white with the champagne pearl trim, front and rear bumpers. It looks beigey, and I can't decide on how to make it look cool.

First step was to shine it all up. Second step, later model 18" 5 spoke wheels with 2757018 BFG K02s. I'm debating about plasti-dipping from the trim downward in black or dark gray, as well as the bumpers.

Of course, I'd like to drop Slee front and rear bumpers on it, but that's not in the $$ cards til next year sometime. So this is a stop gap measure, and I know it's kindof a poser thing to do. I can live with that. I'm going to do a lot of functional mods to it also in tandem to this.

Anybody else succeed in unbeiging and making this color scheme look masculine? Couple pictures of my rig for views.

Dude, that's clean! I say go for it though.

That's what they did in Australia for the 105, the basic GXL if I remember right. Black bumpers and trim, no roof rack and steel wheels.

I think it would look sick. Not sure how to best prep the bumpers. I know the OEM paint on mine was flaking pretty bad when I took em off. Maybe sand and prime, then paint/plastidip. Have to research.

You'd have to figure out how the trim is held on as well. If there are no holes underneath you could delete them. I have an LX and my body trim is held on with bolts. Not sure about the LC

I like that last truck with the black/white contrast. I’m pretty good with the plasti dip from other cars I’ve used it on. I may actually be on a plasti dip watch list somewhere. Best part is - if I don’t like it, off it comes with ease.

The black-out will give it a down-market look. Entry/base model versions of low-end cars come with black bumpers and mirrors. It can look cool on pure utility wagons/trucks. But, since you're a 3rd degree plastidip master... and you know what the black looks like, how about going with a gun metal or charcoal - like the OE bumpers and trim... complete the look the new 18s started.

Having recent experience trying to plastidip bumpers on another car to cover up poor paint... it's really tough to just do bumpers in plastidip and not have it look cheap.

I'd leave it as is since it's clean and save up for the real armor.

I have a Champagne beige 2000 and have been thinking of gunmetal grey for the bumpers, trim, and wheels. This would look like the newer white/charcoal trucks for you which I think look pretty good.

I don't at all mind how it looks now—in fact white is among my favorite colors for these things. However, if you're a plastidip pro, I'd hit the bumpers/trim with some anthracite or gunmetal and then some silver metalizer. On certain cars (BMWs and Volvos come to mind), black rub strips really look Euro-great…but I think on a white SUV, it will make it look "down-market," as mentioned. A lighter, metallic look on the trim, bumpers, and wheels would look great…IMHO. Go for it!

I think the truck looks clean the way it is. If you're really determined, you can vinyl wrap the bumper, side guards and grill in your favorite color. Removable with out damage if you want to change back.

Like this? GXL side trim and fog light deletes on my 98. New bumpers painted with Sem satin black I'm personally not a fan of plastidip. My original bumper covers we're worn/scratched so I bought new aftermarket and coated with sem bumper coater. Reason I went with aftermarket was because of cost and I may go with steel bumpers in the future.

That's awesome.

I painted mine with rattle can silver then hit it with a 2K clear coat. Wet sanded and buffed it and now it looks and feel like factory paint. 2K clear is $24 a can fyi and real volatile so use with caution.

That is dang close to what I was thinking about - thanks for posting that. I was considering also doing the lower portion of the rocker panels in black. The plasti-dip looks very close to that sheen.

Agree on the SEM bumper paint. You should try for a satin or semi gloss vs. either gloss or flat. Both will look cheap. The SEM stuff will apply the best and not be striped looking iMO. FWIW, it looks great now, but it's your truck so I get it.
