Hi guys, with your permission I am bringing back this topic for a short question.
About 2 years ago I presented my
1HD-T engine transplant into a HZJ105.
I also came
across the same issue, with this engine swap I was in need for a tougher gearbox. Originally the HZJ105 has the R151F gearbox, so I was looking for a H150/H151 gearbox. Actually the best fit would have been the H150 coming from an HDJ 78/79 in order to preserve my interior setup, with the wide double bench and forward positioned shifter.
Another issue that I was supposed to address as soon as I would get hold of a H150, was the 5th gear as with the H15X gearboxes, the 5th is notoriously short, the ratio is 0,881 (even shorter than the R's 5th). One option was buying the "360" overdrive gear box, but they did not answer my emails for half year, then I finally received an offer which was simply too much. Another option would be the
Terrain Tamer kit which uplifts the 5th from 0,881 to 0,736,
thus resulting in a 400RPM drop at 100 km/h. But this is also no easy, nor cheap solution, beside the 5th gear kit, it is necessary to make an overhaul of that gearbox when the kit is installed.
So, while I was looking for all that, I have learned that TOYOTA has introduced end of 2016 a revised version of the H150 gearboxes that feature a taller 2nd and 5th. Although I found this information, I could not find the exact ratios these gearboxes have. They are available for 2017 or newer VDJ/GRJ 78/79. I was able to identify the part number for such a gearbox: 33030-60B92 and this is available, I can order it as a spare part.
So the question I mentioned at the beginning of my topic is: does anyone knows the gear ratios for these 2017 -> H150 gearboxes?
Regarding the fitment to my 1HD-T powered HZJ105, I am well aware that I am going to need a different bellhousing and input shaft, but if the gearbox comes with a taller 5th, than it's worth doing it.
Thanks!
