No.
Not unless you preheat both metals and bevel both edges, even then I would not trust a flux core wire weld. I would suggest spending a good amount of money on a good automatic darkening helmet.

Not necessarily, JP welded with the Chicago electric 100 amp welder for years, in fact the stinger that was on his 40 that he rolled was welded by that, the sliders on my 40 are welded on with that. I don't believe JP has had anything break that he has welded with it, I'm sure he will chime in and add more. But all he welds with now is the Lincoln electric 125, as long as you are welding with in the parameters of the welders limits then you shouldn't have problems with breakage with normal use. One key is surface preparation you have to have it clean for it to make a good weld, get what's in your budget and if you find yourself needing something thicker welded find someone who has the machine to do it.

First off, a lincoln and a Harbor Freight welder are two different machines.. secondly... ^^^^ see the BOLD... we are talking about Gabe, right?

cheap machine manufacturers typically rate their machines higher than reality.. I mean really, who is checking?

I have a miller 250 MIG running .035 wire with the capability for .045, mild steel, Copper, SS and AL with a separate 200A gun......

Just to prove I could do it, I once stick welded aluminum.. not gorgeous, but it stuck. I don't stick weld often, so it can be gorgeous or ugly...

I need to try TIG, and will once my shop and apartment are complete...

anyway, using U bolts has proven to be just as strong when attaching sliders.

What I am after is making sliders with the club bender for the rear quarters behind the rear wheel. Next year when i am showing everyone how to wheel at gsmtr i do not have to worry about that tree again! Will be late this fall probably before i can do anything with it though. On a side note i need to get the club engine hoist back to someone somewhere.

And advice from someone who doesn't even own a working welder or even knows how to weld is probably not wise. Chuck stick with something you know. Like hiding money under your mattress in an envelope or boat restoration.

I learned everything I know from you....not....if you listen to Mr. Overachiever he'll have you spending a grand on a welder.
