Hi Upstate Cuisers,
I just joined the UC's and met some of you last weekend at the Trollhole Parts Swap. My name is John and I live in Simpsonville. I have the blue '95 Land Cruiser. I'm looking forward to chatting with y'all, sharing stories, and learning much more about Land Cruisers.

Hey John. It was good talking to you the other day. Glad to see your on board.

I've decided to keep the 62. Now that I have another daily driver, I'm going to start going through it and servicing/upgrading. Problem is, I don't really know where to start. If you had a 62 with 194k that was a daily driver for two different guys for about 9 years, where would you start? Please ask questions if it will help you help me. If there's enough interest in the conversation, I'll start a thread.

Here's what I would start with

Trans and tcase flush
Radiator flush
Differential flush
New plugs cap and rotor

Next
LED bulbs inside and out
Window tint

Anyone who plays mutiplayer games needs to check out shadow gun dead zone for apple and android! Amazing game and it is free!

Good to hear you are keeping it. I'd just do the regular maintenance and you should be good.

The best thing you can do is keep driving it. At least every week.
I'm sure you saw the thread of the 60 that sat for 7 yrs. Don't let that happen.
Keep the oil changed, and check the other fluids to see their condition.Especially the trans.
When i had the shift cable (not really what it is)replaced, I replaced almost 9 qts of fluid. That was a good thing.
Change the oil every year regardless of milage. I only wheel the Jeep twice (or less) a year, and drive it about 20 miles a year, but I still change it. Too much condensation.
Hope that helps.

Re: keeping a 62

When I redid my '89 62, I thought the following needed the most attention: the Throttle Position Sensor (clean it) and adjusting the "Golden Screw"; the automatic transmission seamed very tired so I changed the fluid, new screen, etc.; changed out the gear oil in the diffs (one fill was very stuck); and got rid of the rust in the rear quarters (those factory mudflaps through some sort of alchemy encouraged rust). If I had kept it, I would have put in new seat cushions as well as ATLAS 's (a mudder) replacement upholstry. Also upgraded the lights to the brighter bulbs -- made a big difference.

Also, look at the fluid lines for the rear washer. They are an easy fix and NICE to have.

If I still had my 60...replace all carpet with vinyl. Seat reupholstered front and rear. Speakers and CD player. Spend most of your time inside the rig anyway.....make her insides look nice and comfy!

Then address any leak under the rig.

All new body mount and drive train bushings. New tre s.

New shocks if over 60k on them.

Make her ride like new too.

Tranny cooler.

Custom rear swing bumper .

Oh....and diesel swap

Yup. Saw them last night. Once you pull the leaves back there was definitely a beaver dam. There is also a major dam downstream backing up water onto our property. They are/were moving upstream.
