good part about having a sailboat on a trailer...if it's a long road trip to the gulf you stop and sleep in the boat!

I've been thinking about a pontoon for the lake. I have a place to keep it on Lake Keowee and it would be nice to get out for a little relaxing and fishing every now and then. Now I just have to find one at a very (and I mean very) good price.

Good luck with that. I tried for a while to find one around the 6-8 mark this past year with no luck. All the ones that were that price were turds or didn't have a motor. It's crazy how much outboards are. Crazy I tell you.

Your boat have A/C?

That's why they make tunnel hulls and hydraulic jack plates.;)

Both boats have them and I can run in very shallow water and turn around in them with my narrow 17'. His is so wide he can't get back in the oyster beds too tight.

I was amazed to jack my motor 6" up so the only thing below the hull is the skeg and take off. It jumped out of the water, no rear squat, and once on plane you instantly lower the motor enough that it doesn't ventilate or lose water pick-up.

Mine is layed out like the skiffs, rolled edge, no liner, and splatter coat gel coat inside. Easy to clean, and can take a beating. I would cry the first time I dropped the anchor in that Ranger if it was mine.

they are on craigslist all day long. All we are waiting on is my son to have his last surgery next year so we can see how finances go. Of course by then the economy will be better and all the people who need to sell there toys will be gone.

Okay lets see a pic of it. Don't need to get all fancy like Steve. lol

Here is a pic before I rigged it up. This is how I found it at the boat plant. A new boat and custom trailer that had sat in the plant since 2005 until 2010, then sat outside for one season.

I will have pics of it rigged up in a day or 2. I added a bimini, leaning post, rear bench seat, trolling motor, Gamin, hydraulic jack plate, 90 HP Johnson, Bya Star hydraulic steering, radio, etc.

I just got my title and reg. number in the mail so now I need to order the decals for the reg. and the name of the boat. My son named it Banana Pants. Everyone I tell it to laughs, which makes it perfect for a boat. He got it off of Dora, at first I thought it was too close to banana hamick, but once I realized the source and saw how happy it madfe him to name the boat, it stuck.

He named it that because the hull is yellow, don't know if you can tell from the pics. Also the bimini is green.

Thanks, it's got 3 dry storage boxes, a livewell, and the anchor locker. Also the battery and pumps are in the bilge area so the boxes are 100% usable. I added a leaning post and store my cooler underneath it, and added 5 rod holders plus the 4 on the leaning post. I have a spot for everything in a 17' package that with a swing-away tongue fits in my garage easily.

no ac but does have solar powered fans!!!

I've had my eye on a columbia 28 that would be simple to install a generator and a small window unit that would work great for the cabin space it has.

I've always wanted to live at the beach but having a 3 yr old with an ex will keep my feet planted here in G'vegas for the next 14 years.

So the next best thing is to buy just enough undeveloped land to put in a dock, electric and water and keep a live aboard somewhere in the low country.

With the downgrade of a 3000+ sq ft house and purchase of a short sell 1800 sq ft house i'm hoping that my seasonal job will allow me to take nov-march off every year for relaxation!

and i really need to buy a donkey, a farm just a few hundred yards from my house has about a dozen.

I've been meaning to drop buy and see if they will rent a few with saddels for a day.

boats cost to much or i'm just cheap. best solution is having friends or family members with boats.

Don't you know posting picks of other peoples boat is like posting picks of other peoples wives?

My dad always says he will let people borrow the following in this order:

Wife
Guns
Dog
Boat

Yeah that wasn't cheap. It's funny when I was younger I used to hate pontoon boats. But the older I get them more I really wish I had one. I could really care less about going fast. It's all about not spilling the beer now.

I put pontoons in the same class as minivans.

Yeah they are practical, comfortable, spacious, and the family loves them. But you just look so gay driving them.
