Forgot that a PG rating in 2011 means some animated owls get scary, and a PG rating in 77' meant that everyone cursed but never said f*&$ or showed any nudity.

Watched Smokey and the Bandit with my son today, he picked up on a few things.

Looks nice, curious to see your glass arangement with that window.

I would rather lay a 6x6 or less anyday than a 12x12 or larger. It's hard to get them level and picking up those heavy tile 2-3 times before setting is a bitch.

Lazy and less maintenance. Less grout to deal with. Though the floor will be a pain in the ass.

I lay alot of tile, I love the 16 or 18 in. My sister (sunroom I built for her) had me do 18 in on diagonal. that turned out nice. And yes, lots less grout to keep clean.
Marshal, make sure you seal the grout. Not for water, but for staining. I use the spray on. Lots easier, but smelly. At least 2 coats

4 coats of penetrating sealer and 6 coats of gloss on the slate. That ought to last a while. If it makes it through that then it has a layer of latex thinset. If it makes it through that then it has 2 inches of concrete to make it through. If it makes it through that then it has a pvc barrier membrane to make it through. If it makes it through that it has a latex membrane to make it through. If it makes it through that it has 2 more inches of concrete to make it through. If it makes it through that it has a another layer of latex to make it through. If it makes it through that it has a half inch of hardiboard to make it through. If it makes it through that it has a third layer of latex to make it through. If it makes it through that it has 3/4 of plywood to make it through. If it makes it through that we are moving or will be getting an insurance settlement from the tornado that destroyed the house.

I factored in some serious overkill on that floor. I think if a tornado came I would be safer hanging out in the that bathroom even though it's on the second story.
