Looking very astute there Josh.

I'm gonna get new lenses with blue blocking this time around. I spend 90% of my working hours in front of screen, 90% of my time on the can looking at my phone and 90% of my time at home staring at the 40" screen

Love my blue light blockers.

Speaking of glasses, any recommendations on local (Greenville) eye doctors?

Our family has gone to Jervey Eye Group but the Dr. we saw retired last year so I think we are trying out someone new in the group.

We had a very good eye doctor with a small practice, she got bought out by a large group (not jervey) and it really isn't so personal anymore. Lots of huge TV's, art work, etc........
Will check into Jervey.

Anyone have a thought/opinion/experience on synthetic winch rope. I'm rebuilding a 8274 to go on my 40 so I'm looking for ~80' x 3/8". I see a wide range of prices from S70 to $500.

If you want to go premium, look at Bubba Rope as well. Well designed for use and Southeast Overland was offering the club a discount, but I am not sure their business status now.

I went on the lower end of the price scale with mine. So far, so good, including a big 'ol tree in GA, and most recently the slippery pig.

I wanting to not go premium if I can help it. I probably will never get stuck in a canyon in Moab but I would like to feel confident that I could get out of a sticky or slippery situation if needed.

Overall I like it. It is so much easier to handle the line when doing a recovery, and there is a safety factor if it breaks that the line will not become projectile of its own. We showed this last year with an old, damaged line and a bad pull. It snapped, but dropped to the ground, and we tied it with a blood knot to finish the recovery. Another member here had a well used steel line that typically drew blood from broken strands even with gloves.

It does have some cons. While stronger and lighter, it is more susceptible to abrasion. Be sure to keep it off rocks, use a smooth hawse fairlead, and if you have a snatch block that has been used with steel it probably has some sharp spots now.

Synthetic is also susceptible to UV degredation.

There are plenty of cheap synthetic ropes out there. With an 8274, you can even go 80' of 7/16" and fit it on there. Get an abrasion guard and whatever line is on sale.

Has anybody used X-Bull synthetic line?

Amazon product ASIN B075KKCNM3
For the cost it looks decent and seems to be well rated, if one believes Amazon reviews...

Anyone recognize this truck. Sitting on side of the road all day. A little digging says it came out of Charleston area.

If the owner is ready to sell, I’ll call dibbs!

I put that exact line on my winch this year and have put it through some serious winching. At Windrock this year we had to drag my truck up over a rock ledge using my winch hooked to another winch. We ended up burning up my 12000lb Smittybilt and uprooting the entire boulder on the obstacle. The line did great and came out unscathed...the 80 didn’t get so lucky. Worth every penny so far!
