Saw a guy post this on instagram the other day and thought I should screen-capture some of the photos and post here so they don't disappear forever. Never seen one of these! Its not FJ25, but this is the earliest section we have on mud I believe so I wasn't sure where else to post it. The post was originally in Japanese I believe so the english you see is from a translator, hence the jumbledness.

So this carb is for a 4-cylinder?... the same B engine gasser that the diesel evolved from?

I glanced over the parts catalog and it shows a 6-cylinder. I thought I saw somewhere the B-series diesel motors originated from a B-motor that was a gasser.

Integrated fuel bowl and throttle body! Considering how many SD40s I’ve rebuilt that had a vacuum leak in the idle circuit where it has to pass between the two sections, having it integrated would completely eliminate that problem.

By the same token it would have been much harder to machine all the fuel bowl orifices in the cast iron instead of the zinc of the later type.

Learned something new today! Thanks.

The B gas engine was a 6 cylinder. Basically a metric copy of a 207 Chevy.

Used in these. This one sits about 8 feet from my desk.

I need to stop by @cruiserdan ’s office some day. Reminds me of my visit to SOR a couple years ago. Here’s a few pictures of the of the granddaddy on display there:
