Moonshine fried her tensioner pulley on the way home from work Friday. Happened about a mile from work and with just another two and a half miles to get home, I drove her home. Temp gauge didn't even show the engine up to temp.

Put on a new tensioner pulley and a shorter belt to eliminate the fan pulley, since I'm not running a mechanical fan. One less thing to fail! Parts store only had a 6 rib belt in the correct size, so I'll have to order the correct 8 rib belt, but the 6 rib will get me by till then and serve as a spare.

Drove my son's 60 today and big banging occurring from the front left. Lower shock bushing has disintegrated. Question: is that a local Autozone type part or should I order one?

In his defense, the stereo is really really good.

Autozone may carry Energy suspension bushings

Yes, that's what I'd recommend. In the HELP section they sell stuff like that. Doesn't need to be an exact fit.

I find that 5/8" NAPA heater hose makes a perfect shock bushing. :D

$4.99 for the Dorman "Help" brand bushings.

That, and doing the timing is on tonight's agenda. It's WAAY off. I have a feeling when I replaced the rotor/cap, I spun it a little retarded.

A glimpse behind the endless bondo curtaain.

Small step forward of many more to come

Randomly was able to clock in a few hours in the garage with the 40 over the weekend.

Decided to peak behind the curtain on my DS rocker, to address the bubbling. Much like the quarter panel the PO's hack job rust "repair" only made things worse. Here's the progression and where I'm at, far from done but I felt compelled to show progress since that is a rarity these days.

What I found behind the bondo curtain... The owner seems to consistently weld a plate behind large rust holes that then get covered with thick layers of bondo so the rust can continue un-noticed for yrs to come... Yes that's a hole

Hers how she sits now (still more to do)... Might need to address the seam, maybe cut and rebend and reweld, or more likely, just shoot in some seam sealer

@roadstr6 - good trick with the hammer tap while the tack is still hot!

If anyone was wondering about my metal brake, luckily for me my rig has a custom bumper that has one built in for your ad-hoc trail-side fab repairs

These pics scare the bejesus out of me. I feel like I'm walking with The Ghost of Christmas Future.

Oh you were serious? Thought that was a joke.

It was a joke until 2 bushings popped out during a relic run at Uwharrie and the noise drove me nuts. Hose is what I had. Cut the hose just a little long so the washer compresses it as you tighten. I thought I would get home and pull it out to put in new bushings but it's doing great.

The specific part IIRC is Gates .625" I.D. (5/8") Green stripe hose. Regular heater hose is too thin.

I may have some hose you can use. If so, I'll try to bring it tonight

Thanks man. I got hose in different area codes.... Lmk if you don't have it - I want to get it put in after the meeting tonight. Then timing. Oh, timing...It's been so long.

Oh yeah ... not sure if I'm coming tonight but if I can will bring some.

Mine is NAPA gold stripe hose, not that cheap a$$ green stuff....cause pimps and playas have to rock da bling
