Had planned on having it together for the meeting, but my OCD isn't allowing for that.

Here's another old thread of a successful 2uz swap for encouragement to all of us that are pursuing, discussing, or pondering one. Enjoy:

The 80 had started to pull to the right a little bit a few weeks ago. Pretty close to a wheeling trip actually, so I figured it had whacked some steering part and needed an alignment. Made perfect sense until I went to replace the brake pads before heading to SAS a found the real culprit... passenger side caliper had a stuck piston.

One new caliper, a set of pads, and a brake fluid flush later and she should be right for another long while.

Probably the original caliper

Got the rear u-joint replaced, and got the parking brake cleaned up and adjusted. No idea why that widget wasn't made to be self adjusting...

I'm starting to think I shouldn't have put off all this "little stuff"... muffler and wonky taillight wiring are all that's left.

Harbor freight and northern tool were out of engine hoists. Plus, the legs crash with the engine stand anyway. So, I built this. Works great. Spans wide enough to back a truck under as well. Gonna be handy.

Did some maintenance on my own truck last week before I met up with the guys over in SC over the weekend.
Distributor o ring, belts, battery terminals, battery, upper radiator hose. Also ac evap core...big Thanks to Rory. I ordered a new one and it showed up as I was pulling out to head to NC. Rorys parts truck got my air blowing cold for the trip.

The v8 swap begins... this will get its own thread eventually. Nice to see this trans start coming apart.

This teardown came to a screeching halt once I pulled the VB off. I just can't see a reason to progress any further and I'm leaning towards buttoning the thing up and using it as is. The photos speak volumes. As for the clutches...their thicknesses look uniform and healthy. This unit came from a WS fluid truck, so the fluid color isn't scary. No weird fluid odors.

Thoughts?

I believe that WS fluid goes bad quickly once humidity is introduced.

I could believe that. Assuming it lives as-is post-reassembly, it'll get a fill and then a flush after a hundred miles or so.

The thought behind using it as-is is that if it works, then sweet, I saved a ton of time and money on tools. If it's dead, then I'll go back to the original plan of tearing it down and doing the 4RNR donor swap.

whoa!!! What is this getting put in?!?

The gray 60. Trans looks and feels fine. It's gonna get buttoned up and bolted to the back of the 4RNR V8. Seems like the 2F needs one more ride though before she's pulled....

TL;DR. Dude has a service to make the UZ family as swappable as the LS. 3 wire start up, no immobilizer, reasonable price.

Still have to mount to the existing drive line? Can't mount to the 4spd manual.

If you have enough money, yes, you can. The BH and odds/ends are about 3k from Australia. Deo was recently selling one that he'd picked up for 1uz project.

@Zjohnsonua and I are going to wrench on the 55 to see if we can make headway on the CDL.
Beer and burgers if anyone else wants to join us.
