Bluetooth is Bluetooth regardless of operating system, and it did say works with iPod. You could also do a search for the same stereo in iOS... I know they make it in wince format for windows but I did not find a iOS version when I just look. The Android one is what I'm going to be getting when I upgrade my stereo which will be as soon as I get a job.

If you do a search on Amazon or EBay for a Prado 120 Android stereo/head unit you will find on that is far superior to the OE system. It has 2 sd card slots each up to a 32g capacity, its got WiFi, Bluetooth, and will link with your Android phone to not only stream music, but just about anything else you can come up with. You can pair your phone to it and have almost all your apps displayed and accessible from the stereo. It will work with Google maps, and Google earth. It will also work with aftermarket speakers that are of high higher quality for much less. There are a ton of other options and features -too many to list, and did I mention its about 1/3 the cost of the OE had unit, and is a direct fit, and does not look cheesy or like a

Also again as its been said before your cell phone has a better operating system and better navigation than the GXs navigation. But yes I suppose if you are only using to get around Beverly Hills then the stock OE system do just fine.

My cell phone has a better OS and far more capable hardware than that unit as well, though it would certainly be a step up from OEM. I'd be incredibly happy with something that just mirrored my phone's display and passed audio to an amp. I don't need much else. Android Auto should be more of a thing...

just did a search for that Android Stereo/head unit, watched some videos, read some stuff here that says it will control the A/C (3. If the air condition still working after replacement?
Yes, our can bus is two ways can bus, it support the original A/C information as original.

Read more at All-in-one Car AV Head Unit for Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (120 Series)) and I can not find where it gives you the controls for the A/C & heater, which if you have the ML stereo/nav unit, the replacement must also control, right?? If there is link that shows the controls of the A/C unit, that would be great. The picture of the dash in the link, shows a NON-ML unit.

I know a guy was working on replacing the ML unit with a base unit and then adding in the aftermarket unit, but I don't remember reading if he found anything that worked.

Yeah that seems to be the issue floating in the atmosphere of this forum. .. everyone says "such and such is working on figuring out how to replace the OEM Navi" ... but there is never an answer ...
I rode in my brother's F250 yEster day aND hes we were waching live sports center linking from his cable box at home bc he has an android unit ... Its hard for me to belive with today's tech there isn't a system that can't control ac in a car ...
Wood Grain Warriors unite! ... let's start a thread where we actually figure this out together!

Well after much hemming and hawing, debating, whining and complaining, we bit the bullet and opted for the black 2009 GX470.

It's my wife's car and she really wanted the aux input and Bluetooth. I was not able to convince her that I would get a better head unit installed within a week - I have an 80 series so she's used to my "quick project" and how long they actually take to complete .

Also we got a great deal on it.

The only outstanding issue is that some of the wood trim on the doors and dash should be replaced after 6 years in the intense Florida sun. I haven't found replacement pieces yet but will keep looking. Thanks for all your input!

My 05 Navi is fine. It must have an updated map or something plus I had the eclipse avn6600 head unit in my Tacoma, it's almost identical to the GX setup. The sound is great and I really don't care to watch ESPN when I'm driving, I'm distracted enough just trying to talk on the phone and juggle snacks for my kids... The other good thing about stock NAVI is there is no pressure to upgrade the system because YOU CAN"T!!! more money in my pocket!

Well the point wasnt that if you can't watch cable TV in your car you should upgrade... the point was that we're in the day and age if cable TV is possible in a car than ... a after market unit that can control your AC has got to exist some where out there ...I'm just surprised no one has done it or found since it seems to be the top con of the gx ... and I'm sure it's the same issue for others ..
If your Navi is working that's great that means mine will too maybe if I can get it updated
