twin turbo V8 anyone

I could have had a V8....saw this new 70 series twin turbo diesel outside the rental shop while I dropped off a 2005 70 series troopy camper that I just did 2000 miles in. I was told I could have requested the new twin turbo V8 70 series months ago (if I only knew) when I reserved a troopy to cruise around OZ. The new 70 series was built for a customer but they rent ones just like it minus the twin rear tires and winch.

like the ride I drove... it was a great ride

even without the turbo it drive great and got near 20 miles per gallon

Those hilux's are the standard work truck around here. But I much prefer the previous shape (pre 2004). The visibility from the new ones suck, as does the underbody protection (plastic protecting plastic).

The 70 series only have a single turbo, the twin turbo is reserved for the 200 series diesel. I've driven a 200 series but honestly was expecting more go for the numbers it has.

Great .. better plan: when I'm ready to take the trip I will let you know. Then you buy a old cheap 1HZ and keep it clean ha ! then when I arrive rent the V8 70 series and drive to your home to do the swap .. then you send me the V8 .. nice uhh !

The troopy I rented was in great condition, only red dust hiding where they couldnt get to cleaning. Besides the dust the rig was in great shape not a real dent on it...till I dented the bumper corner. I couldnt stop thinking you would never find a rental 4X4 rig (if we had them) in this good shape in the states. The rig had around 70 kilos on it and I bet most of that in those miles in the outback. They told me it was rare for a troopy camper to start at Sydney, they usually start out further north and head into the outback.

KEA only keeps their rigs for 2 years then sells them off. check their website, you can have a x rental troopy for only $60-70k AU. Not cheap but well set up inside and out.

Over 3 days, we covered almost all of Frasure island, beach and inland and we didnt go slow. The rig was tight and solid, ran like a top 60mph down the beach, good shocks and suspension for a heavy stock rig. Even on the highway we cruised with AC comfort at 70 mph.

They hide the dented ones out the back These 2 were at Uluru (Ayers Rock). I think one had 4k on it
