John Pardi and I had thrown around a few ideas about these awhile back and the best solution we could come up with would involve some good old fashion shop time. So today I removed the PO version of the lever with the thought in mind of coming up with something a little better.

here is a shot of the lever I have, I had nothing but this to go off of so I pretty much winged it and made something I thought looked somewhat legit from a piece of 3/8 round stock

started out with shaping the two ends via some Mapp gas, a ball peen and the flat of my vice.

I finished it out with some small grinders and some hand files

I have to drill out the mounting holes, an hour or so of polishing and should be ready for plating

so I'm back at it again!! its amazing how much time a small but tedious job could burn up.

I actually have what I consider a "solid" game plan this time. after I burn some ridge lines onto the paddle end, I'll clean it up and finish it off with some Lab Metal. Sand/contour the paddle end, then have it powder coated.

I think the end result will be very good. the pictures I have at the moment don't do it justice, it's actually coming along nicely. I just didn't think making this would eat up the better half of the day!

IF someone wants to have these made, I'll let them borrow my good straight original as long as I get it back by april. yes 2014. The best way would probably be cnc and then have them hardened and chromed.

I'd love to take you up on that offer Mike, my plate at the moment seems a bit full though.

The top two are from a picture Jim sent to me a while back. The middle one is the 25 series with the infamously broken paddle.

The bottom one is my nearly finished one, it will be going to the powder coaster for a thin coat of "chrome"





The images are nearly 30 larger in scale. All measurements are very close to identical. Without the powder coating, this project consumed approximately 3 full days.
