How I plumbed my BOV.... Thanks to input and advice from Rick.... The BOV makes a world of difference.

Thanks for the help with the wastegate but that cant be right as to do it that way will only limit the signal and wont bleed it anywhere

The "bleed" actually occurs at the mbc (to atmosphere) if I'm not mistaken. Mine is a Hallman ball/spring setup and it is hooked up the way I described. If you do anything with the top nipple of the wastegate, keep a real close eye on the boost gauge for the first run.

Ok so I hooked up the adj wastegate controler last pm. I teed it into the pressure signal nipple going from the compressor outlet to the side nipple on the wastegate. I then sent the other line out of the manual wastegate controller to the nipple on top of the wastegate and set the controller midway. On the way to work today I hit 10lb boost with lots of rpms to go. Had to let off. felt good. Need to set up the wideband asap. I set up the controller thgis way after reviewing diff ways online.

havn't done the bov yet but will do as rick says

my stupid internet at home is down-sorry. hopefully running again soon to post pics

Dusty, what boost controller are you using? I am curious how your 1-2 shift is under high boost. I had a pretty bad delay at 8 lbs until I adjusted the TV cable a bit. Much better now! Good work.

Im using a cheap ebay job ($19). It is nothing more than a bleeder valve-it doesn’t use a ball or anything. Seems to work good. I played with it a bit yesterday and it now delivers a full 8 lbs by about 3000 rpms. As I climb in rpms there is some creap. I don’t know what it will be boosting to at 5000rpms as I havn’t been above 4000 yet. At 4000 she bounces to 10lbs but I get off quick as the wideband isn’t logging yet. My home made manifold didn’t creep as much. I may need an electric boost controller.

Shifts still feel tight. With the BOV I don’t get the bouncing tbody noise when coming rapidly off boost like I used to.

Going to utah this afternoon to wheel (I mean visit the inlaws) so I have been focusing on prep for that. Welded on some diff protection last pm. I will hopefully play with the wideband up in utah. Then dyno dyno dyno

Dusty,
I noticed you mentioned some boost creep. I am experiencing boost fade of about -1.5psi when the tranny kicks down and the rpm's jump dramatically. The boost won't return to normal until I ease off the throttle or the tranny drops back down a gear. It will hold 6psi all day (regardless of rate of exceleration) as long as I stay out of the major "kick down" range of the tranny; WTF? Have you or anybody else experienced this dilema?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, I experience the opposite; a slight boost bump at kickdown - more load equals more boost. Is the tranny slipping somewhat perhaps allowing less load at "kickdown"?

I think Turbocruiser is on to something. I had slippage until I adjusted my throttle valve cable. Mine is adjusted quite a bit past the middle of the threads. Prolly almost 3/4 out. I am not having any more boost drop or slippage between gears. The boost slightly goes up now when it kicks down like he said.

Hmm? Tell me more. Did you tighten or loosen it? I had tightend it in the past but may need to loosen it back up. Auto tranny's are not somthing I'm up to scratch on.

I'm not that good with a/t either. I tightened the cable a little at a time, then drove it from a dead stop on flat ground through the gears. I went until it felt good & didn't bang on up or downshifts. It really helped & feels solid when it shifts.

Are you just essentially bypassing the intercooler? From the pick it appears that you are transitioning the boost from one pressurized pipe to another. If so, I don't see the benefit.

those pics are of how it was plumbed wrong. MSGGRunt went back and corrected it. here is the pic showing the proper plumbing

Aaah yes! This makes much more since; although it still looks like the input/output of the BOV are backwards. Probably still works though.

Nice work. I am getting excited.

I have tracked down a source of turbo manifolds in Australia and am getting some plans together for my own turbo experience...

Hey Dusty, would you be able to post a list of all the parts you have used in your build up? I have been reading through but just want to make sure i havent missed anything.

If anyone else is willing to list parts used in their turbo 1fz-fe experience i am keen to learn, especially if you have dyno results.

Thanks in advance...

Any hope of a parts list being posted or a kit being made?

Are you gonna share info. on your manifold find? That's the part with the fewest options I think...

All the manifolds that I've seen from Australia have the turbo hanging under the main runner and require an integrated waste gate. Good luck getting one of those in there. Safari and AVO both have custom castings to get it to fit. When I looked into an integrated setup there was no way to physically get it to fit with a traditional down pipe.
