Torque 327 lb-ft.

should not have watched this

Here's the lame-a$$ article that came up off a quick google:
2010 Toyota Tundra 4.6 V8 – Review – Car and Driver

The big takeaway from it was the Lexus lineup I'm a complete idiot about:
The LS/GS 460 from ~2010.

Is the motor they are comparing the 2UZ in a Lexus? IDK, just tossing this crap out there & we can all see what crap sticks to the wall.

Again, I'm no expert but damn if I don't want a Yota timing chain'd V8 in a 80.

Just found this
The full-size luxury sedan seats five passengers and is available as the regular LS 460 or the LS 460 L extended-wheelbase model. Both models are powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 that produces 386 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque when equipped with standard rear-wheel drive, and 360 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque with optional all-wheel drive. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on both models as well

The LS460 does have the 1URFE which is the 4.6L engine we are talking about.

It also came in the GS460 "sports" sedan, the GX460 "Prado/4Runner", the Tundra/Sequoia.

It is a generation newer than the 1UZ/2UZ/3UZ that were in the 100 series, Tundra/Sequoia, LS400/LS430, etc.

You are getting not much more power than the 2UZ series but you are adding quite a bit of complexity in light of fuel economy numbers. Like the D4S injection.

If you look at the engine series you can see it isn't huge changes.

1FZ - 212 or 240hp, 275 or 300ft/lbs
2UZ - 271hp, 315ft/lbs
3UZ - 300hp, 325ft/lbs
1UR - 304hp, 324ft/lbs Land Cruisers and 347hp, 349ft/lbs Lexus

So I still say the UZ series of engines is the one you would want. Especially the late model 1UZ with better flowing heads or the 3UZ...... Which also happens to be my next project, but not for a Cruiser.

The UZ V8s would be my pick because aside from the starter I haven’t found a difficult task on them. Timing belt, power steering, AC, all relatively easy.

Yeah the starter location sucks, but and it is a big but I am trying to see what it would take to get a Tilton bellhousing/7" clutch and bellhousing mounted starter to mount up to one.

If there’s such an option for the ‘98 1UZ and A650e trans I may be very interested.

No it would be chevy or ford trans pattern more than likely, since they already have the castings for them.

2UR or 2UZ?? I know Evan Jenkins did a 2UZ way way back in like 2002-2003, because I did my 2UZ FJ55 in 2004 with his help. I also know he had his hands in a lot of engineering/tech at Toyota. But I have not heard of anyone doing the 2UR which is the IS-F engine.

I know the 2urfe has been put into a FJ55. The guy that did it works for TRD. He also installed the Lexus hybrid system from the ls600h. He also had a part in trd's 2000hp 3ur in a 200 series.

Yeah the 2UR seems like an unnecessarily complicated swap. And I don’t think the 2UR likes being separated from its 8-speed gearbox.

2ur. 2ur is what's in the ls600h correct? It was in the 40 section about a year ago. Supposedly he used a pristine FJ55 survivor and asked if anyone wanted all the parts he removed for the swap.

Oh I just went and looked it up. I am not sure if it was a real person and real post but if it is that would be

Chuck Wade, the Director of Toyota Motorsports Technical Center, Inc. (MTCI).

He would be an invaluable asset to the community, but I see he made 2 posts and never came back.

Yea those type of guys would have the resources to do such a swap for sure. If we see the rig at Sema some day then we'll know it's legit I guess.

Well this isn't too old so I'll hit it again. Just purchased a 2014 LS460L AWD and while I think the other type of LS and 6L80 are still the way to go, I'd like to stay with a Toyota engine in my 97 LC. But I'm still hooked on the sounds of a camm'd up Chevy engine in my LC. Easy to find, easy to swap, great stereo sound from the pipes. Think I just sold myself on staying with the Vortec swap. L96 style even if I know that the 6.2 is lighter in weight. Just like the idea of a cast iron block in my LC. Ballast? LOL

All the new toyota V8 engines have little in way of aftermarket support since its so tough to manipulate the ecu. They are also huge engines in relation to cylinder displacement so they take up a lot of engine bay space. While the toyota engines offer a little more reliability over the LS motors and perhaps a bit smoother, the LS motors are far easier to work on than any new toyota v8. GM caters to the engine swapping communities, toyota does not at all whatsoever. These things in my opinion make a toyota v8 swap out of sight.
