Do the standard Tuff Box Consoles fit? I acquired one via the barter system but it seems to wide. I was just curious if anyone else has made it work or if you have to buy the one designed specifically for FJ40's.

i beleive all i have seen the 8 in for 40 and the 10 or 12 in for 60's how wide is the one you got

Howdy,

How do you like them? Have you exposed the one you have in the fj40 to the elements? Thinking about getting one for my 40 and installing the radio in it, and it will get exposed to rain.

Thanx!

no it's not(and will not be) out in the rain, the tops never been off. I really like them, if/when you mount one try to mount it as far as possible to the passanger side, this will give you a bit more room for the driver other wise it feels kinda tight. On th 40 I took the pad off the top, it just was to high for my liking.

here is what I did for rear speakers

John where did you get those seat covers in your 60?

John, I like what you did with the speakers...that's nice. might much that idea off of you when I get to the stereo peice, just have to find some marine speakers....or something weather resistant.

Yo han,
Those Bose 151's are indoor outdoor speakers, they are weather resistant...sound pretty good too.

Spector Tuff Duck covers, I have 5 sets of them, very nice cover, and will hold a full spilled pop without soaking thru ;)

Scott is correct and they sound VERY good in a 40.....very very good :) retail is $250 but on Ebay you can get em for $200. The mount for the roll bar is a ARB airial mount, fits perfect around the roll bar, I used inner tube to protect the paint on the roll bar.

i put one in my 60 after someone broke in and stole my stereo. my only complaints are that the stereo area isn't ventilated (my stereo kept overheating when i drove to arizona a couple summers ago...i've since drilled holes in the side) and the glue from the little rubber trim and weatherstrips sucks! the weatherstrip on the underside of the top doesn't hold well and keeps slipping out of place and the glue on the edge piece for the stereo melted out during the summer and ran down the front of it.
