I saw this TSB on Bring a Trailer. I have never heard of this one, but might explain my tie rod end popping apart on a trail a few years back. Is there a thread for FJ60 TSBs?

wonder if that would help explain the change in the tie rod and relay rod ends
I've got one on a shelf and it is different than later 60 series
it is the only one I've seen and it was on a very early 60 series I parted years ago
I'll try and remember to get pics when I get home

a few more with a tape measure

I'm thinking this also explains why when buying a tie rod end from Toyota, the tube was included

I have never seen that setup. Must be a 81 thing, they do have some oddities. Looks like bump steer city too

The fuel tank letter:

that is my guess, as that is the only one I've seen also, that's why I keep it around.
IIRC it was a late 1980 build, model year 1981

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

So the earlier tie rod had the offset and the later ones are straight? Interesting stuff. My 1982 does not have a recall for that, so it must have been for the 1981 model year trucks only.

the early setup had shorter tubes, both relay and tie rod.
the early had longer ends on both ends of the tie rod
driver side end is not straight, it has a dip , not sure why?
