Well, I finally bit the bullet.

I just ordered 5 Trxus 37x12.50r16s from www.4wheelparts.com. They matched www.truckaddons.com price of $308.99/tire plus $100 S&H. I also purchased a lifetime road hazard (pretty much anything goes, sidewall damage, etc.) for $125.

They should ship from the Dirty D tomorrow, so I should see them within a week.

Now if it ever stops snowing, I'll be able to mount them up. For now, it looks like I'll be going to Moab this weekend on my studded 33" mud terrains.

I'm psyched.:grinpimp:

PS, I hate you.

$300 per tire?! Reason # 267 not to go to 37's. My broke @ss can't afford to get flats at that price.

I had to sell my soul (my first love, my '87 Frankentruck) to get the CFO to go along with it. Then the deal was half the money goes to tires, the other half goes to whatever the CFO does with it.

BTW, we are now a one vehicle family. The 80 is our grocery getter/family truckster. Although I do have a F250 plow truck, not mine, but since I'm on-call, I'm allowed personal use.

One vehicle family- I remember those days! Sucked.

I've got one extra at my house currently. Not sure why- but it sure comes in handy at times.

That's a good deal with the CFO, my arrangement is the same. If I can justify spending twice what anything costs, I can pull the trigger at will (hence all my low cost fab work :hhmm:) and :princess: gets some stuff she was going to buy anyway.

As such, Discount Tire is getting prices on a set of 37" trxus as we speak as I've found a buyer for my Toyos at a reasonable enough price. $308/tire? Great price, 35" Toyos run that much. I'll be using that tomorrow with Discount :D. I'm only doing 4 tires, though, and will buy a beater spare. I'm not putting another $300 tire to rot up on the roof again, if I can find a bias ply 37, which will be 15 lbs lighter, I'll probably go that route.

No single family vehicle on 37's for me, though. I've done that before, and it sucks. Then again, I don't live in Aspen, where I would would care less

Until such times, a :grinpimp: minivan shall stay in the stable, which at the end of the day is the real justification for the 37's anyway.

4wheelparts will mount them up for you too. Since I live no where near the Dirty D or C Springs, it's cheaper to have them sent and mount them up myself.

I live on the grounds of the property that I'm the chief engineer for, my kid's day care is accessible via my golf cart, four wheeler, or snowmobile depending on the time of year, and my :princess: works three days a week less than a 10 mile roundtrip commute. So most miles are going to the grocery, PO, etc.

None the less, I see a Highlander in her future. One of the subliminal ideas behind selling my Frankentruck and slapping 37s on the Cruiser is getting her out of the Cruiser and into a Highlander or something similar. Then I'll just have to make burly bumpers for whatever she ends up with.;)

Nick- have you regeared yet? (I can't remember...)

He has 4.88's and a supercharger. And now that he has trxus and will not be driving over 75 mph, he will wish he had 5.29s :flipoff2:

Right you are. There are some cruel ironies to life with a Cruiser. With my 315 (~34") MTRs I couldn't go 75 without the RPMs being really high as well as my exhaust temps. Now with the 37s, I'll be caravaning with Nay.:flipoff2:

Oh well, at least it's better than my old Frankentruck which didn't go 75 down hill with a strong ttail wind and the main sail up.:D

My Cruiser goes the same speed regardless of load and incline.

Last year on the way to CM pulling a Starcraft 11rt, I kept the speedo around 82 with a STRONG head wind. The only issue was I burned through my main tank between Glenwood Springs and Moab.

The good news is I've got 40 something other gallons on reserve.:steer:

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm enjoy. I loved mine. Had the trxxus in 35'' flavor for just a few months before I moved to 37'' iroks. If i still had my stock wheels or if they'd make the 37 for 17'' wheels id definately consider this as my next tire.

ps............. lemme know when you wanna unload those ole used 4.88's on me for 5.29s :D

They DO make 37s for 17s!;)

I'll keep ya posted on the gears. You're not running 37s with stock gears are you?

Last year on the way to CM with that headwind I was doing 65 tops towing nothing. :meh:

You just can't gear your way out of all this weight at altitude, there's just no way around it. Hence, it sucked with 33's and stock gears, it sucked with 35's and stock gears, it pretty much still sucks with 5.29's and 35's, and it will suck with 37's and 5.29's. At least on the highway that is :flipoff2:

:bounce: whoo hoo cool to know, when interco first released the 37 trxxus it was only avail on a 16. and um....... technically they are only 36.9's but yes; still on stock gears here (+/- 500' ele.) They are close to the top of the never ending list of mods.

And there I thought you said you don't need gears for 35's? :D

PS, 39's are the new 37's

You do need gears...for crawling. And then you need 37's. Which is why you should do 5.29's the first time :D

I know on the 39s, nobody even talks about 37's anymore. 35's are so Y2K. :hillbilly:

ROR:lol::lol: 37s were cool when BFG ATs were, and Marty McFly had the most badass Toyota around...

how about some pics! or at least some "before" pics as a teaser. when do you get the new rubber in?

UPDATE: I ordered the meat yesterday (3/30), but I just received a call from my shipping department that some new tractor tires showed up on a RAC truck and I need to get them out of there ASAFP because there's no room for our giant caviar shipment that is showing up shortly. After all, this is Aspen...:grinpimp::flipoff2:
