I just wondered if this is a common problem and one of you guys knows a quick fix ?
The lock in the middle is doing its job but the right and left ones not. So I ending up with heaps of sand in my back.
Can anybody help?
Cheers Marco

Yes said it better.
And these tailgates won’t be completely flush fitting, should they stick out a few mm, 1/8 inch? Due to gasket behind right @BILT4ME.
Wrench for loosening, soft hammer to adjust, wrench to snug it back up.Ok sounds good thanks. All the tailgate uppers I’ve seen in person are out of spec then.
I think my brother n I had 5 of our 80 s parked side to side and yea all were flawed in some way. Mines out 2 mm. Wrench or hammer? Adjusting latch points in a touch now.
Nah, not visibleHad a bunch of mates sitting on your tail gate lately? Is it bent?
I have discovered that slamming my upper gate flexes my lower gate to the point that over time, it has cracked the lower gate just to the right of the release lever on the lower gate.
The upper gate latches on the lower gate.
There is a small plastic piece that covers the latch mechanism inside the latch on the upper gate. Make sure that plastic piece is still intact (look for pics on this forum). Without that plastic piece, the second click will not be achievable and therefore, the gate will not seal. I do NOT think that piece is available by itself. I think it must be purchase as part of the assembly, or buy a salvage latch assembly.
