Today I finally got to attempt starting the 40 for the first time since installing a howell kit. My issue currently is that shortly after the engine starts it backfires through the intake. I’m reading online different causes but I was hoping someone here has some experience with this.
I am running a DUI distributor with the rpm connected to the harness. Maybe a timing issue? I felt confident in setting TDC and installing the distributor…
Online I read that running lean can cause similar issue. Wondering your thoughts.
At the same time, I saw in the instructions that inadequate flow on the fuel return can cause issues with fuel pressure.
I was also wondering if maybe throttle position. I haven’t got a throttle linkage set up yet and have just been holding the tbi by hand.
