Engine mounts are tacked!

Your sissy desk arms cant hold the camera still enough for a decent pic? Jokes. looking good, the power in that engine may require more than just tacked motor mounts;)

So once I remove the cross member again. I'll finish weld everything. Add some more bracing for the black box mount and re install.

Then onto rad support work. Need to move the rad over and down. Salmon came up with the idea to plunge the rad into the frame as far as possible. Then I may be able to run a small front mount intercooler on top of the rad between it and the hood. Something like a 6-8" tall 30 inch wide core. I won't really know until I know where the rad ends up

Looking good.

Second that, puttin in some hours there

Welded out,

Dropped rad 2.5 inches. Any more and it's exposed to the steering linkage and isn't well protected. So that means I don't get my 8" intercooler. I'll spend some more time looking when the power steering box gets mounted up....

More figuring than anything these days.

I did manage to build a battery tray for under the right side tub and above the frame rail
ImageUploadedByIH8MUD Forum1418097693.783453.jpg

Needs mounting bolts drilled once a test fit a couple batteries up there
I'm going for 2 group 31 agm style batteries. 900 or so cca and 100 amp hour capacity.

For my fuel tank I measured again and again to see what I could fit and should fit. It's a little more complex than I originally thought but I'm hoping awlteq and his company can built it for me. Otherwise ill attempt it on my own.

My tcase output flanges don't match my drive shafts. The guys at work figure we can red drill them for the needed pattern though.

Ordered psc fittings to adapt pump and steering box today. Dug my steering parts off of the snow covered trailer too with Ratpuke's help.

Did more looking and seems like if I attack my bib with a plasma I may be able to sneak my front mount intercooler into place. It fits pretty good!

My goal is to drive this thing before the fishing trip. Though it will be an illegal test drive.

No. No red tops for this cow boy. The group 31s I'm goin with have nearly double the capacity of red tops. But 'Stacey David' does not approve.

More progress tonight.

I cut the old steering stuff off. The biggest pain was the manual steering box. The tower it is mounted on is super riveted. I cut the rivets out but couldn't pound them out. Finally got fed up and 5th state of mattered that biotch off of there.

I removed the font relay rod box and steering damper. Cleaned up the frame end and focused on the steering box.

I'm using a rhd 70 series box from the wrecked 77 for this truck. I helped my dad to a conversion using a lhd box on his lhd bj42 and it turned out pretty good. This is much the same. I reviewed some old pics and clamped it into place.

Then I started eyeballing the intermediate shaft. If hoped to be able to cobble something together with the parts and pieces from other truck. This isn't looking as promising as I need a thinner intermediate slip joint to clear the shock tower. Even after modifying it. My other option is to remove the shock tower and run and f250 tower. Then I'd have more room. It's just frustrating since I only need the tower for a little while. Then it will be removed for the new suspension

Thinking about it more now.... Ill clearance even more and reinforce as needed To get by in the short term....

Lastly I pulled the t case flanges for re drill tomorrow at work.

Meeting tomorrow so no plans then!!!

This weekend I aim to get power steering box solidly mounted and buy some material for other little things. I also need to pilfer a rad from a. 40 outback. Then it can be solidly Mounted.

I'll grab a battery next week

Well I have the steering box and intermediate shaft done. Still have to grab one bearing for the bottom of the column and steel a bj70 drag link. Then this thing can steer!!

That could be it for the weekend. We have a French couple with transmission problems coming out today to try and get some
Troubleshooting done on their troopy 70 series. They've been travelling the world for over 2 years

I may have to pop out for a visit! let me know if you need anything from NAPA maybe could save you drive time one way.

Have a little work today. We re drilled the t case outputs to the proper pattern for the driveshafts.

I bought a battery and cabling as well

Troopy is back in the hoist bay after a week long stint outside to allow a repair of its younger brother

My power steering fittings arrived and fit the box and pump perfectly. I hope to get lines sorted before Christmas.

Also slipped the battery into place. It's a perfect fit and will be even better when it's brother shows up. Many discussions with Ivan and Katia on vehicle layout and set up.
