Well the rad I thought I had is no good... Byron is sending one south sometime soon. Tinkered more on the battery support and remote termiNals tonight. Also may have figured out an air filter but it's a monster Donaldson type.

Also sad news that the intercooler just won't fit front mount.

When it it gonna make some smoke?!?

Smoke before I go back to work. Byron is sending a new rad this week. I should have the supports ready for the rad. Hoping to have wiring started tomorrow for starter.

Big thing is the fuel tank build. Paul is your TIG around. Thinking it would be best for tank welding

Cranky cranky this morning. I've found my glow wire and hooked up main body power

Well made some serious progress with the assistance of frenchies

Turbo down pipe started

Should be close to starting it tomorrow. All the cases are full of oil. Rad hoses should be on real soon. The power steering should be totally done tomorrow.... Getting so close I can taste it!

It's alive!
Starter it today. Ran pretty good. Seems to have some blow by and maybe losing oil out new turbo. I'm going to give it a hard drive before anything. Get everything good and hot once or twice.

Rads in
Steering done
Down pipe done
Shifter done but need work... And need black box shifter installed
Wiring started.

Nice work!

Well troopy had come along ways over the holidays. Thanks to help from ratpuke and the French connection I was driving it in 2014. I also was able to wheel it on New Year's Day. This wasn't without event though.

Early on the steering let go on a dodge connection. We tie strap and ratchet strapped it together and continued for the day with 'herding cats' Steering. On the trail troopy worked great. The turbo hz makes great power and is still in need of more tuning but is great overall. I rented some tires that were better than the stickers and that sure helped.

Over the past few days I've done a few more things.

Fixed dodgy steering
Replaced coolant after coolant flush and freezing rad briefly.
Little more wiring clean up
Started fuel tank

The tank should be complete and installed this week. I removed the tank gauge and draw pipe from the original tank and will transplant them into the new one. It just so happened they are exactly the right size as well so that was a nice piece of luck.

Welding the tank has been fun. Water testing the welds as I can. So far I've had 4 repairs. But after all is said and done it isn't leaking anymore. I still need to cut a few baffles and weld them in. Then weld my final panel.

Absolutely
Freezing in this thing right now.

Cold, but if you are filling the new gas tank... that's progress!

ha nope.... but i did add a send jerry can..

Ya the big focus now is the tank. Once it's in ill be able to seal up the floor better. And work on more permanent solutions to wiring and all the other good stuff. The laundry list is big though.

Also need to turn up the boost. 12psi Is for sissies. Look out 18. :)

Did you build a drain into your tank? Are you going to pressure test with air as well?

On a side note, Salmon has been driving for weeks with no heat, through the cold snap and all.

Ya tank will have a drain and ill do a light air pressure test. That's the plan anyways
