Dame I really like the look of that thing

It's Damn ;), and I really can't wait till the Spring over to see what it looks like then! Good work on getting it going over the break Tyler.

Spring overs are too old school for Ty-baby.

Not for me , I'm old balls

Did some more on the tank. Two baffles cut and welded in. Last
Panel welded in. Test fit it prior to all that. It is a tight fit but fits. Couldn't be any larger anywhere.

Have to fix a few leaks on it. Then weld flanges for senders. Then filler access. The filler is the toughest part. I'm thinking I'll try and use the stock fill and pipe it back to the tank. That will leave me with about 5 foot of 2" hose feeding into the tank. Any thoughts? Or do I bite the bullet and install a new filler? If like to keep the original but don't want the tank to be a pain to fill.

Also figured out an e brake and my exhaust routing for inspection.

Ditto...old balls...

Looks good Ty. Now you can get it inspected so that you can rip er' apart again!

Not yet but getting there

A few more things done

I went to work more on the tank on Thursday but ran out of mig gas for Charlas welder. So went onto tackling a few other little electrical gremlins.

The tail lights weren't working. No power to the socket. After seeing the rear harness this was no surprise. Two added trailer sockets and splices all over. I cleaned it up some but didn't get it back to factory. Lights work anyway.

Then Friday I
Picked up wire and mig
Mix and went to work.

Finished it this am and mounted this afternoon.

We just got back from its first fill. Since I used the original fill neck and have 5' of hose leading to the tank I was worried about how it would fill. I stuck the nozzle in and let it fill.

Clicked off at 143l. Squeezed in another 7 for the full 150 I was aiming for. So far I can't see any leaks. I'm still driving off the Jerry cans but will plumb the tank tonight with my new electric pusher pump and dual cheapo filters. There is some
Metal bits and fabrication dirt in this thing so I need to be extra careful. I left a magnet in there though too grab the stuff it can.

150L! If you get 17L/100K that's a pretty decent range, almost 900km! plus the 2 gerry cans in the back of course

Yeah. The guy at the gas station was surprised at how much fuel the old beast needed. Obviously Behemoth60 didn't fill up his tow rig there when that guy was on shift.

Disaster has struck... My turbo has died. Nothing to dramatic but certainly needs a rebuild and maybe a full replacement. Thread in diesel section. Pretty bummed as this thing was really nice to drive.... and of course it happens the night before the club meeting after not being able to drive a cruiser to a meeting for a year.....

If you want I can tow you into town behind the 71 now that I have a pintle.

So long story short. I wrecked my turbo. I bought a new one. It works great too.

So new turbo is in and turbo ing just fine.

I also finished my black box shifter. That makes that install complete!!! Woo hoo. Steve and I toured the yard at 105:1 gearing. It is slow. Really slow. Really really slow.

Tonight I got my washer pump working. A new pump and finding the wires wasn't so bad afterall.

Tomorrow I head to deans to pull glow plugs and injectors from an hzj80 I intend to buy the motor out of. I have a sticky injector and will try these others while I get mine tested.

As I drive this thing more I notice a vibe on the highway likely coming from my rear drive shaft. Need to take that in sometime too.

My diesel tiny tach arrived. Hope to have it installed and some new gauges for the factory cluster once they arrive. Then I should have all working gauges.

I topped up my fuel the other day. Gauge was reading about 1/8th of a tank. I added 85l to bring it to full. So I had another 60 litres available. nice!

Plans for the new 1HZ?

Spare for when I blow this one. I may rebuild it with go fast parts for fun.

I'm glad someone noticed that..... I have a history...

Gotta straighten it a touch but it's tough to level is when the truck isn't either.

Got a 3" exhaust on tonight. I'll need to relocate the vacuum canister though. I removed it for now in order to get the exhaust up and out of the way. Seems to have lots of clearance and exits behind passenger rear tire. Could route it right out the back but I like seeing my exhaust in the mirror.

Truck is so much quieter and nicer to be in. It was just starting to get obnoxious with only the down pipe. I don't know if it is the placebo effect or what buy it seems more powerful on the but dyno. Egt seem normal too. Certainly not any higher. I suspect it's placebo as I've never heard of exhaust helping turbo response or performance.

Anyway only a few more things to
Make it ready for fishing trip!

I thought the roo bar was a relic of the past? Is this just a temporary fix for inspection purposes or has it grown on you?
