Love when each bolt is a different size metric and some standard and some Robertson screws for good measure.

I'll bet the front bumper is now a clothes drying rack at the acreage lol...

He threatened to put it on the 71. I'm gonna dig a hole and bury it one evening when he's distracted by fixing other people's vehicles. heh heh.

$.45/lbs at the scrap yard

Yeah. That'll pay for a new pair of gardening gloves, knee pads and maybe one of those chrome shovels from Lee Valley. Real skookum.

more progress....

Finally some positive news. Nwf shipped me a new input for the black box to try. The original one would not fit the transmission output. The new one slid on without any trouble!!!!

So happy.

Just spent some time installing the new input into the black box. I'm a few pieces of hardware from having all I need

Well got my hardware and called nwf about which bearing I needed for a new input. Got that too. Turns out it's the wrong one. I realized after it wouldn't press on. Perfect. Cut that sucker off and will try and get the right bearing

This frickong blows

Out of the kindness of my heart I will not bring this nwf matter up until the meeting. at the meeting I shall rejoice and remind you of my initial advice. I will then proceed to rub salt in the wound for around 10 years or so, give or take

What did NWF say about that bearing, they send the wrong part, if so they should over night it to you..... I will call them tomorrow and ask what happened..

Rob

wrong part number given was all. may not be there fault. I asked about the first bearing the tucks into the pocket on the face of a split case. It us pressed onto the output shaft of the transmission. They said any 6307 bearing would work.... this isn't the case.. In fact the bearing is an odd ball toyota bearing made by koyo. a DG3508A. I found one at 4 wheel and will try to get it Friday to resume assembly. 20 bucks wasted and frustration is all.

Ordered alternator and some turbo plumbing stuff...

woo

Picked up some starters this weekend and tried to cobble a good one together yesterday. Broke two screw drivers off inside the screw heads that hold the nose cone to the solenoid/motor assembly. Need to by impact driver set today and see if that frees them up. Pretty pissed

Played with new alternator too. It has a little tick to it when spun and needs some work to truly 'bolt in' but shouldn't be so bad...

Custom bolts for the black box should be sent out this week too. Oh boy

Nice. Let me know if you want a hand with anything. ;)

Well a little more progress today!

I needed a 12v starter to fire this unit up and after selling my 24v one I thought I was stuck with a 400 dolla rebuild from cruiser parts.net.

But Bruce had a 24v hdt starter that was pooched and a rebuilt 12v 3b one he thought I could Frankenstein together. He was right!

The starter looked to be in perfect shape and should suit me fine!

Nest I tackles the alternator. I opted for a rebuilt 150 amp version from and 2007 sequoia. This would give me oodles of power when needed. I ordered a pulley and plug from a mud me never to make it bolt in....

Not quite. Mods needed to the tensioning bracket and case to make it work. Wasn't to bad but I hope it holds up.
