Drive and enjoy it.

As much as I want a supercharger when I buy a LC one day.. I wander if there are any downsides besides a lighter wallet.

Has anyone with a supercharger had driveability issues in 4LO or using crawl control... just curious how these functions are effected, if at all by the supercharger/ throttle response sensitivity. (might be a dumb question, if it is, don't flame me...)

10MPG increase??? That is crazy. What is the reason for that?

because you're producing you're own air not sucking it in. its much more efficient.

You're going to have to explain that one to me ... superchargers suck in more air than stock - that's how they produce higher pressures ...

there are blades in a SC that produce more airflow instead of the engine creating a suction of air. SCers force air while engines suck it in. hence it being much more efficient

I don't know the science of the whole thing... But I used to have a supercharged Acura integra and for some odd reason when I was on road trips I would get 40mpg it was so strange around town I would get like 22 to 24 mpg.... It was weird

I've had new s/c on 80 series for almost a year and on highway trips getting a little better mpg. In town it's sometimes better if not stepping into too much. Basically pays for the premium gas in mpg savings.

yeah, but you're talking about a truck that is already underpowered. The 5.7 moves the truck along nicely with really no lagging effort. the SC just makes it that much better...

Agreed on the 80 being underpowered from the get go and even with the s/c it's still not what I'd like (better though), but just that the s/c increases power and mpg.

i felt the same way on my SC 100 series. It was better but it wasn't that much better or what i expected it to be. My MPG went up a little after it was tuned right....

nother update.

more about putting the oil separator in. So I asked about the oil separator today to better understand what it actually does. So now that you're pushing air with the SC instead of sucking air it builds up pressure which in turns pushes very small amounts of oil past seals and gaskets and end up detonating. Apparently this is not good in an aspirated motor..lol.

so what the oil separator does is take on the pressure which allows the pressure to bypass the seals/gaskets. works as an insurance policy and also another big benefit is it increases vacuum and more vacuum means more HP. without it the vacuum is around 10-12 and with it it will make around 24 lbs....no brainer it seems
