It makes it invisible to laser radar detectors long enough to slow down. Just a really, really good radar detector. Saved my ass more than I can remember.
Yeah but I get a 25k tax credit!
s***, i need one. where can i get it

so another update.

so what was leaking was the sparkplug 0-rings. Basically you replace these when you replace the valve gaskets. there were two spark plugs literally sitting in oil, which over time would foul the coils. I asked him what was the cause and he said it was normal for it to happen that most of the time mechanics clean out the oil and retorque. however, he wanted to replace the rings because it would eventually get worse with the it under much more pressure using the SC.

This might be something those of you with 200s should check as my truck barely has 100K on it and was never abused. Just so you know if you find them leaking it is a total biatch to replace them....bring your checkbook.

not sure if this is a common problem or not.

Steve

With this issue, and the starter issue I have been reading about, are the 200s not as stout as the 100s?

The 100s had starter issues and tranny issues.

The 5.7 engine is stout as fxxx. Way over built. The 100 is a great truck but I still think the 200 is better

update!

Ok the first picture you can see the 4 black o-rings. These are the sparkplug rings that seal the in and these are the issue, well two of them are; one on each side. They are letting oil get past and filling up the coil compartment with oil. They are changing out the value cover gasket and all 8 of the o-rings, plus each coil as well. The 90k service was done on this truck and i asked if they should have caught this and he said absolutely but most mechanics are lazy and didn't want to do the work as it's quite extensive. Said they hose it down with brake cleaner and blow them out. you can check if your engine is seeping oil by pulling your coils.

He did say that my engine look immaculate for having 100K on it and that the PO took very good care of it.

I have to say i was lucky to stumble upon this shop as they have been putting SCers on toyotas for years and years and know anything and everything about them. He said he is going to put an oil separator in so that zero oil gets into the intake. Said that aspirated motors don't do well when oil is sucked in. Also has to fab and move a few things due to having a dual battery set up....he said some other things he is going to do to make it better but I have no idea what he was talking about.....

I'm trying not to drool but that rings Pavlov's bell.

Steve. Be sure and use a colder spark plug. Champion makes a good one. If you have any questions feel free to PM me for my contact info.

the right plugs were included in the kit. not sure which ones they are...i'll find out.

I know the guys putting the SC in will put the correct things in and not cut any corners

my guess is tomorrow. Today if they really hump it.

The gasket BS set it back as he had to completely backtrack

is Sparks doing the install?
nope my local guy here. I think sparks would be awesome to have installed it but these guys seem to take it one step further with what they know about SuperChargers and how they work with specific motors in general. Not downplaying Sparks on any level as they have helped me tremendously and I wouldn't hesitate to take it to them if I were closer.

oh also. Just talked to a tech guy at Magnuson and he did confirm that they will be putting their name on the TRD superchargers. The next SC to come out will be the 5.7 and then the rest to follow, including the 4.7.
He also said that the 2013-2015 5.7L SC are a bit different than the predecessors. The housing is updated and the fit is apparently better with regards to application and fit kit parts.

While he couldn't give me a price he did say it will be cheaper than the TRD.......but of course it wont say TRD baby and everyone knows that having TRD on it makes it go faster!!!!

I talked to Magnuson today too and confirmed same thing - 5.7, 3.4, 4.5 (fzj80) and 4.7
They'll start with Tundra 5.7 but landcruiser in the plans too.
