Has anyone installed one of these on your LC, and if so, what was your experience with it? I’m also curious as to how it stacks up against the Harrop supercharger.

According to the Magnuson website, the ECU tuning issue has been resolved as the kit comes with a handheld tuner.

This has been discussed extensively on the Tundra forums. The Harrop is more efficient, will make more power, and is generally regarded as the better system. Regardless of which system you choose, you should still have the truck custom tuned by either OTT or Yotawerx for max engine safety, efficiency, and drivability.

I installed a Magnuson 2650 a few weeks ago. I'm very pleased with it so far. The quality of the kit was the best I've ever seen in the aftermarket. I can't stress that enough. The instructions, packaging, parts, everything. Just outstanding.

I went with Magnuson over the Harrop for my own reasons. And I would do it again.

As far as the Harrop being better than the Maggie I think thats splitting hairs, and we tend to do that with these trucks and mods. Something has to always be better but most of the time that doesn't mean anything real world.

Magnuson does a remote tune and so far it's worked great. The power is VIOLENT. I'l be leaving for Cruise Moab in a few weeks driving from South Ga to Utah. That will be the first real test. I think it's gonna be a blast!

Thanks for answering my questions and the very informative post. It looks like you do quite a bit of off-roading.
Have fun in Moab! 👍

The fact that it comes with a packaged tune is great, especially if you plan on just keeping it plug n play. The Harrop will run on the stock tune, but the stock tune is not optimized for boost, especially the torque to load table.

How is it significantly more efficient if they are both using 2650 rotors? Does it just have a better intercooler?

Prior to installing a stage 2 Harrop on my LX, i did a ton of research. This thread is basically the Bible for supercharging the 5.7:

I think you’ll be fine with either platform, but I recall reading both the rotors and intercooler is better designed and more efficient on the Harrop. If you do decide to go with Harrop, make sure to install aftermarket injectors and get a custom tune. Actually regardless of which supercharger you choose, get a custom tune.

I’ve posted in that thread. Its just so all over the place that it’s hard to find info in it

Would love to hear an update. Also, yes I agree we split hairs like we are racing and looking for the .001 sec slit time and 1 HP, or 5 lbs of weight will do it....lol Also, to split hairs a bit, dude.... that engine compartment pic with the intake off with the compartment soooooooo dirty. The tech in me is saying there is debris just waiting to falling, or get in the way as you negotiate the SC on there... LOL

Splitting hairs could also be the difference +/- 100k miles out of an engine..

As referenced a bit above, the biggest difference to me is that the Harrop relies on increased fuel pressure modulated by boost reference (high flow pump and modified regulator), O2 sensors and the knock sensor to "tune" the engine in stage 1 form. This is not, in my opinion, a viable solution:
  1. As the Tundra thread documents the injectors run out of capacity at high load/rpm
  2. I sure don't want to be constantly bouncing off the knock sensor to control detonation because ignition timing has no idea there is now boost.
  3. Increasing the fuel pressure based on boost to try and get the A/F correct is crude at best.
People say that the Harrop stage 1 runs great, but I've yet to see a dyno run with A/F ratios to confirm that. I mean, if you're never going to load the engine hard, well, maybe it's fine. But there's no margin for error in a pretty crude approach like this. Even Harrop's stage 1 instructions say to at least confirm on a dyno that the engine is running safely.

Magnuson on the other hand supplies a high flow pump, larger injectors and an actual tune. I will be installing a Magnuson this coming summer.

There's a pretty good video of a trailside intake manifold water dump that might give you an aneurysm

just hate putting time in and finding I created more issues... where's that lost washer; only the piston knows... lol

Looks like we are getting in some unexpected returns and I will be able to SC my 2019 LC 200. I believe I will choose the Magnuson SC for ease and I don't want monster race gains, just extra for hauling the conqueror and out trip from TX to AK, and the Arctic Ocean in JUNE 2026. the Cruiser has been flawlessly maintained and is just 106k. It has lots of extra weight, all what you expect, bumpers, sliders, rack, 40 Gal LRA and winch.

I'm looking for a place where I can buy everything I need as a kit or at least a compilation of parts, and have a local guy here in SATX install it.

what are your thoughts?
