I have been contemplating buying a TRD supercharger for a while. I have just been caught up on the cost and decrease in the already low gas milage. I don't really want to have to buy a remote tank.

How does the supercharger perform? What is the effect on gas milage?

I am running 305s on my truck and am thinking about going to 315s or larger. I have an OME J lift.

How big can I run? What effect will larger tires and an SC have on my truck without lower gears.

I would really like to have the power and am curious how big I can go on these tires with this lift.

How much is involved with the bolt on kit?

It is not a good assumption that an underpowered rig will get better gas mileage. Of course, you are planning 35" tires so gas mileage had ought to be completely out the window at this stage.

I think you'd find that a supercharged 80 on 4.10's would be highly preferrable to a stock 80 on 4.88's for running 35's.

Nay

I bought my truck with the SC on it, so I've never had a before/after comparison, but friends with 80s without a SC that drive my truck seem to like it. The supercharger has no/little effect mpg, but it will hit your wallet one way - premium gas.

You can run 315s with a J lift, but you will rub flexing.

The bolt on kit of the supercharger? There's a lot involved.

I really didn't notice a change in MPG when I drove in my usual fashion. If I try to see what it will do, there is a marked worsening in mpg. Having recently added an ARB bumper, winch, larger tires and lifting the vehicle, I am anticipating a big change on a trip Monday.

Thanks guys. This is all really helpful.

I have been reading a lot of threads on what can be added to increase performance and decrease wear on the engine with an SC install. I see that there is a lot of that can be done and I see that there is a lot of money that can be sunk into it.

What is absolutely necessary when adding an SC and what is just preferable for better performance.

I understand the importance of changing out the HG before it goes and insuring that the stock cooling system is in tip top shape, but I am not sure about the alchy/meth injection.

I have run my SC for 50000 miles. I just use the cooler spark plugs and have put in a 94 brass rad. Cheers. I did not like how it drove with the stock gearing and 315s. The 4.88 gears are much better.
Cheers,
Sean
