I ran across a guy this weekend who had an 80 series, similar to my own. He had TRD badges on it, so I inquired. He said that many of the parts on his 80 were TRD not just OEM. I heard of TRD but I thought that was on vehicles after 2000? He had a lot of items on his LC that looked like they were Toyota, like a rear foiler that was fully attached to the vehicle, molded plastic of some sort, that said TRD on both ends. It was color matched to his Forrest Green. He had a TRD hood ornament, which again, I'd never seen. His front bumper wasn't stock, but it also had TRD cutout of each corner. He said he had a supercharger that was TRD too. I looked inside briefly and his seats were like a recarro seat, and yes, they said TRD too. Had a cool looking grab bar, it said TRD and it was etched into the plastic perfectly.

Everything this guy said sounded strange, like he was smoking some TRD meth. But, everything he said, for some reason, sounded legitimate. He even said that his axles and birfs were TRD. I just redid my front axle and birfs, and couldn't imagine any improvement with it being TRD.

His wife started getting a little jealous that her man was giving me all the attention, (she must not understand Land Cruisers) so I couldn't get any more information.

So are there really that many parts available for the 97 LC that are TRD specific? Such as?

He may have left out the "E". TERD i searched web for trd parts for fj80 i only found Decals, Supercharger and parts for supercharger, and wheels. i think if you slap a decal on that part it automatically turns into official trd parts.

Or TARD.

I've been looking as well, I found the wheels, decals, and items that aren't for the 80.

Yes, the last I checked, still a female

I can not even behind to explain how difficult it is to leave this be....hopefully staff will remember this in the event I stumble and fall in the future.

Funny though, most people PM me and ask.:worms:

Gonna bite my tongue here, too.....MUCH to my dismay and say only how glad I am ('cause doods don't typical brag about the attention other doods jealousy wimmins) and simply say,

Welcome to Mud :flipoff2:

There is quite a bit of Japanese market stuff that we don't get, the spoiler, front bumper, etc definitely sounds JDM. No idea if it is real TRD or just rip off parts. Did you take a picture?? All this talk and no picture? ;)

^^^^ What Ryan said.

There are absolutely no TRD axles, birfields, bumper, hood ornament, or Recaro seats available from Toyota for the US market.

The TRD badge will give more power, but cost a few mpg's

Sidenote - I used to live in Carrabassett Valley for years and run up your way to fish and kayak.... great coutnry and good choisce of rig for it ! I had a 40 back then and it spent lot's of time on the logging roads from Stratton to Jackman....

Beno, Ryan and Dnancy nailed it.

I have a TRD sticker if you want, but the A will cost extra.

They were from Quebec. It was an 80, but on the side it said 4500. From the sounds of it, no TRD stuff here in the US, but perhaps other markets have items that are either TRD, or that look cool and you can put TRD on.

Carrabassett Valley, drive through there once every 2 weeks on my way to a site that is just east of Eustis. Beautiful area. I'm planning on going to Sugarloaf in January to go skiing.

The rear spoiler looked really cool, so did the hood piece. I was going to take pictures on my phone but he was getting flak, so no luck.
