“bottom” makes me wonder if he’s referring to the front wheel drive sensor on a post-1980 split transfer case.
 
I am sure you know more about those models than I do! Reread my post about brittle wire and I would like to clarify. Not Mr. Algahzy's fault in any way my carelessness when installing it. To some it may have read differently

I took some pictures, still learning what the parts are. I took this from under the truck, looking towardd the front.

THAT is a first for me; never seen anything like it. Newer (relative term) brake master has a low fluid warning switch and, based on location, that would be the logical use of a switch placed there. But in my mind, unless the probe is substantially higher than the drain hole, it’s more like a ‘you’re f**ked’ switch.

There wouldbe an appropriately labeled indicator on your dash and a color coded wire behind it in your harness that would match the one coming out underneath the truck to service the switch.
