Transmission Question

I have 2000 100-series with 203,000 miles, give or take. I have searched the forums and have seen many references to transmission concerns, but have been unable to find any reference to the question I have.

There is a slight delay or hesitation, from a stopped position, when I give some gas. The delay is subtle enough that it is almost not noticeable, but of course, I feel it. There is no clunk, lurch, or other noise associated with this. It is almost as if the gear is not catching immediately to drive the truck. There are no other symptoms such as hard shifting or slipping between gears at speed.

Any ideas about what this could be?

Try flushing with 12qt of M1 synthetic AFT.

I’ve had the same issue since flushing out Mobil 1 full synthetic ATF, with Mobil Dextron VI blended synthetic. The VI improved mpg just a touch, but I’ve notice slippage ever since. I notice this when breaking but not coming to full stop, then light acceleration.

I'm going back (when I get around to it) to using M1 syn ATF in the transmission, which has a higher viscosity.

Clean the throttle body and MAF first. Then start digging into the brakes. Easy things first. If you want to find out if you have a brake caliper sticking, check your pad wear. The outer and inner should be similar (to an extent). I found out which caliper was sticking on mine by driving at 25MPH and coasting to a stop, I used a IR thermometer to check the rotor temp. The rotor that was 260*F was my issue. All others were 114*F.

Thanks for the input folks, I will definitely check out the stuff that you suggested. From what you all have suggested, this does not appear to be a transmission problem per se.

I had very similar occurance in my 03. I had slight hestitation type feeling from the driveline within about 1 second after take-off. I was fearing the worst. Installed new tires a couple weeks ago and never had the problem since. I have not explanation.

If you have access to another set of wheels/tires, it might be worth throwing them on a taking a test drive.
