Looking for part numbers for transmission fluid pan for 2007 GX470. Toyota and Lexus. I stripped the cross threads on my drain plug on the transmission fluid pan. Pretty sure i am going to need a new one.

Thanks Dan. I sure feel brilliant for this one!

Local Toyota quoted about $580, ouch. That is full price of pan at $120 plus, gasket and fluid. $300+ for total labor. They said they hardley ever service the transmission anymore. Going to try to repair threads before my Friday appointment and see if I can save the pan. If does not leak I will keep an eye on it and add my own new fluid. Procedure seems like a PITA but So does $580!

Any tricks to get the drain bolt out without dropping the pan? Bolt spins both ways and I tried to use vise grips to pull down and turn while prying at it with a flathead screwdriver hoping to catch some threads. If I must drop the pan I will just tow to the dealer and let them take care of it. Giving a final shot before I wave the white flag.

is there a nut that should be welded on the inside of the pan that is spinning? the link Dan gave you, it looks like there is a nut inside. even if it was cross threaded, you should be able to get it out of have it break off.

Needed to drop pan to fix. I have no lift and did not want to tackle just sliding underneath with truck on the ground. If i had more time I would consider it. GX is my daily driver too and I need it back in service ASAP. Today i bit the bullet and towed to the dealer. Should have back Friday just in time for the next round of snow. Thanks for all the help.

Interest in what they find

Got it back today. They had an opening and squeezed me in. Swapped new pan, gasket, etc. and all new fluid. No issues and transmission works great. Up to 10" of snow by morning. Glad I have it to get to work tomorrow.

Did they say anything about why the bolt just spun in place

No. I didn't dig in to it with them. Sorry. I know I way overtightened it though. Was in a hurry and garage was just above 32F which didn't help. Lesson learned on my part.

At least it’s fixed
