I used to be able to get WS fluid by the 6 pack, part number 89-ATFWS
parts.toyota.com Does not seem to ship WS fluid anymore. I tried dealerships in FL, TX, AR, and KS.
lexuspartsnow.com Took my money and told me it was out of stock with no ETA.
My local dealer only had half what I needed and the price was about $19 a quart.

Where are you guys ordering fluid from?

Not a direct answer to your question....but Valvoline MaxLife ATF is recommended as a Toyota WS substitute, and only $25 for a gallon/4 quarts at your local WalMart:

I've been running it in my A750F for a couple of years and 35K miles now with no issues. The transmission has an upgraded valve body and gets used pretty hard towing and off-roading. I'll probably do an exchange next year with the same fluid. I also put it in a buddy's A442 in a Tundra and it's been great there too. It's a full synthetic vs. conventional for WS.

It's on Amazon. Is that a bad idea?
Horrible idea. I wonder what kind of mystery fluid it is and how good of a fake the label is :)

For folks who are WS purists, you can get Aisin WS for $7.36/QT from Rock Auto. Given that price I'd be curious to know if it is a synthetic or conventional fluid.

I used Eneos synthetic in my 80 for it's rebuild. Works great. I'll be putting it in my 200 around the fall.
It's made in Japan, available at NAPA, but not cheap.

I bought a 6-pack of WS from my local dealer last week, for a Corolla I was working on. I think it was $18 a quart.

This probably will not help you but my local dealer has it in stock for pickup. $10.80 a quart. I used part number 00289-ATFWS for searching.

Can you ask your dealership part counter to order it for you.

You can consistent get 12 pack, 2 case of 6, from Amazon for $13.5 per quart. Sold by Toyota dealership.
Sure enough. There are a number of Toyota dealers who do parts business through Amazon, using Amazon to handle the money. I don’t think there is a counterfeit risk if it’s sold by a dealer. On the other hand, I just bought 12 qts from a local dealer……no problem with supply.

Valvoline MaxLife ATF works great in my 80, my Highlander and my Sienna. It's excellent, full synthetic fluid. I realize some Toyota purists scorn its use, but I don't see anyone buying motor oil at the dealership. MaxLife is cheap, good quality, abundantly available at any Wal-Mart, Amazon, auto parts store, etc. That's my advice.

Oil needs to meet certain national and global standards. Transmission fluid does not.

I did tons of research before switching to MaxLife. Everyone I found who had used it as a Toyota WS substitute has been pleased. It also works well as power steering fluid.

The same level of research led me to Maxlife as well. Did the full fluid exchange on my 250k mile tranny with it last summer and it improved shifting notably.

Mine was about the same as prior when I did an exchange at ~135K, but the old fluid was in decent shape. Just hit 170K on my rig and it shifts great. Overall it was "no change" for me, which is still a success!

On my buddy's A442 Tundra (at ~135K) it was a huge difference. It had also had a change prior (old fluid was not bad at all) but must have had a generic Dexron VI fluid in it. The shifts were much more firm/positive.

The MaxLife seems to work great in a big range of Toyota applications, including both the WS and older pre-WS vehicles. And it's cheap enough to allow for changes every ~30-45K. Can't imagine spending $320+ on just fluid for a full exchange with Toyota WS at ~$20/QT, when you can do it for $100 with MaxLife.

Tundra never had an A442F transmission.

A tundra couldn't handle the weight of a 442

I am open to all these suggestions but I guess I need a bit more longevity data. My goal is a long lasting transmission and saving $5-10 per quart is not.

This is another good potential option, but I just don't know much about it.

I think the only online source for Toyota WS fluid mentioned so far is ordering on amazon. Does anyone else have another source?
