I have a 1979 FJ40 with an aftermarket disc e brake installed on the transfer case. When I purchased the vehicle the caliper was missing and I have not been able to find anything quite like it. Have searched on line and it appears the kit is no longer sold but there are no markings to help me track down the original manufacturer. I am looking for who I might send photos and dimensions to and see if they could identify where I might purchase a caliper.
I think it was an older man-a-fre kit. I ended up with one of these and sold it. This is what the caliper looks like.
Yes, it is a Man-A-Fre kit, sold in the 90’s. I have one on my rig. The Caliper is an Airhart and the caliper and brake pads are available on E-Bay. Buy a couple sets of pads….if you forget to release the brake….they don’t last very longe.

Please note, with the brake release, as you drive around, the caliper will rattle. It’s a bit disconcerting, but you’ll get to used to it. The best part is that if the rear t-case seal leaks, drips in the driveway instead of filling the brake drum with oil and soaking the shoes.
Here is a picture of mine, hanging off the back of my Hone-O-Drive. Had to reorient the caliper to clear the cross member after the overdrive installation. Your installation will be closer to vertical.
