Brand new here and to the FJ scene/addiction and figured I may as well join since whenever I search for something I end up here. Great stuff goin on. Grabbed this rig back in October and that's when the "bug" hit. I always think to take pics of before/after work AFTER I'm knee grit in gunk and I'll do so this evening w some detail. But before I get gritty again today I've a question that hopefully I can get feedback on this evening when I clean up. Here goes:
Coming home today after making yet another trip to the parts house a buddy called me up and explained he was "stuck" in his driveway. His reverse had gone out and forgot as he parked. Know mind you DRIVEWAY. no problem.... Chain up, take out slack and give a little tug and THUNK- now just a whirring noise in first gear and reverse. My stomach sank. Locked in the hubs, give him a tug and we part ways. Now with the front end engaged I eased her home with no whirring noise as I heard in 2wd. Disengage the transfer and drive as normal? Noise returns. Any ideas for me to chew on when I finish dropping the front pumpkin fluid and checking the birfs grease level before I limp it to the shop in the morning? And with that being said- when I pulled in earlier and pulled the front pumpkins inlet plug what met me was a root beer float bubbly froth. Cross contamination of the grease and oil? Or water emulsified? Both? I'll have a better idea I know once I get started so here I go. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Sorry for the slam so soon- was looking forward to posting pics this evening and introducing a new rug to MUD. It was the threads from yall that has saved me much grief
