cruiserdan said:Too big in my opinion. Max trailer 5,000 lbs, max tongue 500 lbs. Dead-weight only.
In adittion a trailer of that size uses a load leveler. Toyota specifically discourages the use of a load distributing hitch on an 80 series.

P.S. the front diff is in and rides fine!
CDAN saved me about $350!!!
Brentbba said:Well I to have used a weight distribution hitch on the cruiser in the past. I've stopped. Never have found an answer as to why from Yota, but it is very specifically NOT recommended in the owner's manual.
I use Airlift airbags now and much prefer them.
brent said:Hello Hello
I am new to Cruisers and new to this forum but recently bought a '97 80 and last weekend pulled a '84 Toyota pickup about 500 miles (Omaha-Denver) approx. 5000 lbs with a dolly, overall I thought it did well, am used to pulling with trucks and didn't have any problems, I think the key question here is what type of terrain, here in the midwest it is obviously flat but if you are pulling though hilly or mountainous states I don't think I would even consider 6000 lbs, not with a stock cruiser, I would not only be worreid about getting up over mountains but also getting down with stock brakes and not only getting up and down but without tearing up your rig.......if you just can't decide try hooking it up and driving it around a little in a deserted area with the same type of terrain so that you can test the braking/pulling capabilities?????? Just an idea.
