See below. My inside door pull broke when pulling the door closed. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, how did you address it? I could pull the door card off but I don’t know if the broken park is even available. I’ve thought about slightly pulling the handle away from the broken mount and trying to get some epoxy in there. Any opinion or help would be appreciated. I’ve searched the forum and couldn’t find any related posts. It’s not the latch,

it’s the plastic pull.

Thanks

Robert

There should be a large screw that anchors it to the door. Did it come out?

I just went out to double check. The screw is still there. The plastic broke in two places, slightly above and below the screw.

I was thinking about removing the screw and broken plastic, coating the edges with epoxy and letting it set up before screwing back in but I don’t know if that will hold.

A simple reglue with epoxy will not hold.

If you add a substantial enough layup of a reinforcement material (like glass fibers, carbon fibers, etc.) and epoxy in a way that will solidly connect the handle you pull on with the screw then you stand a chance of a repair that will hold up. Epoxy bonds to plastic are also not that strong so I'd guess you'll need to extend the repair pretty far up the handle for adequate adhesion or you may want to put holes in the handle and lace the layup through it, etc. which introduces extra complexity and risk. Making such a repair that is cosmetically acceptable will take some effort and likely require a finish coat of matching spray paint, which will need to be touched up periodically I would assume. You could probably also recreate the piece in steel, etc. etc.

Easier and better to source a used unit in my opinion.

Doesn’t look like the handle can be removed separately. Looks like it’s all one pice from around the window controls to the back of the arm test. What am I missing.

No, I just looked at the picture again show the breaks. I don’t think a washer would work. So still open to suggestions

You'd think I'd remember how these go together since I've been working on mine lately. It's all one piece, part and parcel with the door panel.

Message Swamp-thing and see if they have a good panel to sell you.

There is 3 large screws that need to removed then remove the door card and remove the 12 silver screws from the back of the door card and pull off the handle and replace. Pm me if you need one I’ll sell you the one I just pulled for demonstration.
