Found this pic on Coastal Cruisers Moab trip thread. Any one know who owns this truck? I'm curious as to the build details. Looks very cool and quite a combination of parts:

I saw something like that on may long weekend. On north shore rd cowichan. It still had the older front end though, European plates. He was with some sort of Mercedes? Cab over 4x4.
I tried to get as good of look as I could without driving into the lake :hillbilly:

Pushin the limits of the 2LTE for the third summer in a row! Running better than ever. Put some intercooler fans in which made a huge difference in preventing heat soak while sitting in traffic, also installed a 3L camshaft which apparently shifts the power band up a bit. Will see how it works next trip. Total weight of setup is 9000lb. I can do most of the Malahat towing at the speed limit now except down to 65km/h by the top of the Shawnigan lake turnoff hill (8% grade). Packing up after a weekend at French beach (last week).

Have a good trip and hope all goes well... 9000 lbs is a lot for that little motor.

Empty my bigger Rig is 8500 lbs, but it has a 7.3 L turbo diesel. If your trailer ever bites the bullet, you should convert an Ambo into the ultimate camping/expo rig... but then they might kick you off this site... :(

Yeah I'm definitely pushing it, but it seems to be surviving just fine; mostly because I've done a lot to improve and upgrade it. Would have died long ago had it been stock. I've thought of pick-up trucks etc., but hard to beat 18mpg towing (south island conditions, better on more ideal roads). Borrowed a Chev Tahoe V8 last year and got 10mpg under the same conditions towing my trailer.

Yeah, that is sort of a dream for that trailer if I can't get any money for it when we're done with it. Might take the goods out of it and build an expedition rig. I like the cab over 4x4s from Mitsubishi and Isuzu, but an old ambulance might work too. More of a dream than reality tho! No time or money....:(
