Toyota Brakes still rolling while brakes applied at stop light

When I first bought my 2015, the brakes drove me nuts. I felt like I had to get way too deep into the pedal to stop the beast.

But... I've gotten used to it. Yes, the truck will creep if you're not paying attention, but the stopping power of the truck is actually quite good. In my experience it's just the really squishy brake feel that leads to us needing to apply more pressure than we are accustomed to.

Yes, it has happened to me when I am not paying attention. Truck creeps forward if brakes are not pressed firmly specially when waiting the traffic signals.

Reviving this thread since my wife was complaining about the same thing this morning. I've experienced this as well, though it seems to happen when the RPMs change (i.e. the A/C compressor kicks on) and the light pressure used to stop the vehicle is no longer sufficient to hold it at a stop. In her case she was sitting in line dropping the kids off for camp and the slight creep forward nearly ran into a child.

@bjowett - does your brake upgrade kit help with this at all? I realize the underlying problem is not the size of the brakes, but I'm wondering if the larger diameter rotors, pads, and calipers help, hurt, or make no difference in the situation. I'm planning on buying your upgrade when my pads give out since I tow and could use the extra stopping power, but would do them early if it solved (or masked) the issue.

I don't think the brake upgrade will have any effect on creeping, I think this more due to the "squishy" feel of the pedal, the pedal travel to keep it stationary is not enough to hold it when the revs kick up. This has happened to me a few times at traffic lights, now automatically as soon as I come to a complete stop I just push down harder on the pedal.

I wonder if anyone changed their brake lines to ss, when I changed the brake fluid and bled the system the pedal felt more responsive but after a few days to a week went back to being squishy again.

Never experienced this but maybe I'm used to it since driving Toyotas so long. Are you sure the person in front of you isn't running a manual rolling back and all other cars are stationary? That is a whacky feeling as I've pushed my brakes harder thinking I was rolling. Ha

I've had the same problem and the LX as definitely creeping. Yeah, I now push harder too, but as of Friday, we now have a new driver and I noticed it happened to her the first time I let her drive Hamish, yesterday.

I've done that before as well, but no I'm sure the vehicle is creeping slowly forward as if I press down harder on the pedal it jerks to a stop again.

I have the "creep" too on my 2013... Thought it was just me letting up on the brake peddle, falling asleep at a traffic light, but now I have lots of company, so you see Doctor I'm not insane...

On a side note do any of you ever hear an electronic servo type sound from the foot well peddle area when you apply the brakes? I can hear this noise every once in a while when i'm alone in the LC with no radio on and the A/C is quiet...

That sound is the hydraulic brake booster maintaining pressure... Very normal.

Thanks bjowett, the people on this website are knowledgeable and great!!!
