Agree on the work around.

Otherwise it’s a lawl. (yeah yeah I want debate with you laws gone ungoverned) used to be $5. Now 10 it seems. What got me is they used to charge me for factory applied tint. I suspect because it was failing and obvious.

How much are you all paying for inspections?

Mine are $17. Or am I missing something? They seem pretty straight forward to me.
They have never mentioned anything me about window tint or anything else.

I pay my money and leave with my piece of paper and get my registration.

But I’m new to the whole state inspection thing.

While state inspections in NC are supposed to be uniform, I found in my experience that different areas cared more about what it was. Bigger metro areas seemed to be the worst for fails. I always took mine out of Mecklenburg County and never had an issue for anything except for the last year I did it the guy I picked failed me for my parking brake not being the best in the world.

I can see that. I’m sure the kid working at the shop I got to near me can’t care less about my vehicle. He’s more worried about getting off work.

roll your front windows down, pull the window fuse/pull the manual window crank off. they can test what they can see and you can't be failed for windows not working.
Perfect

I don’t get the window tinting thing, not my taste , but regardless what Eric said is actually true. You don’t need side windows to pass inspection so lowering them and pulling the fuse works. I got this from a close family member in that business, they can’t deny a pass if the windows don’t operate.

$30 for NC inspection, +$10 for window tint 'inspection'

SC, we don't need no stinking inspection

translation, drive any old POS ya have

Didn't work....unbeknowst to me, the previous inspection tech at a different place wrote some code # and the word 'tint' on the registration, that I didn't even notice.

So when I handed the registration to the tech today, he said I have to see the windows or no inspection.

I guess I'll have to become law abiding.

This figures. I have heard this from others (who I don't fully trust not to ahem.....embellish) and that's why I only half-heartedly mentioned it. If you need a tint guy recommendation for after your inspection, let me know.

If you do fail for something on inspection they will notate it in the system and you have to prove its been fixed next time around.

Yea...thankfully the first guy didn't officially 'fail' me in the system...he told me to fix it and come back.....so I had the plan to go somewhere else with 'broken' windows, but I was flagged ala Costanza's book.

I took the tint off yesterday.

Everyone is safer now! Praise!

too late. I have already reported you to the authoring authorities and the Karen's on the neighborhood facebook nextdoor neighborhood watching list.

to put this to bed....it passed.
You know, because I keep all the actual SAFETY parts of all my vehicles in tip top shape.....but constantly on the lookout for cars with no brakelights, one headlight, no turn signals, no license plate, no cat or muffler, worn out mismatched tires, and/or no taillights.

I have reported all false reports and reported that reporting to the WRAL reporters.

According to the first sentence, all Chick-Fil-A stores will be closed for several months in 2024. That kind of conflicts with the headline. Another sign that journalism is dead.

The story of Trippy. When I go overseas, I put an AirTag on my bag to track it. Last month I had one in my bag, and since we may be out in the field for days, I can track my bag in the hotel room every time I get cell reception. Fly back to the US and get expedited through, and my bag did make it but was left behind on the domestic connection, thanks United! Flying out of Houston I could track my airtag still on the ground.

Two days later my bag is delivered, but it was ripped open and the AirTag was gone, still in the plane as we can see it bounce around between airports, tracking the plane tail number on the flight radar website. We changed the name to Trippy as it was just jet setting around until the battery died. Has been doing this since 5/1.

Then, this morning, it is showing that it is in TelAviv! It did fly to Newark last night. Shalom Trippy, shalom….
