You are all caught up in capitalism, it's the national religion and most don't realize they've converted. Look up the average credit card debt just to pay for X-mas. Buy buy buy. Buy crap, wear it out or break it, buy new crap to replace it, repeat.

The concept of SAVING and buying quality the first time is not a common concept. Lifetime guarantee! Lifetime of the company and these days it is hard to keep up. It is not hard to ween off of, just takes some discipline.

JAMIE try this one, go look at the car AND ONLY THE THE TARGET CAR. Do not buy the neighbor of the target guy's car. Do not buy the cool car you saw on the lot on the way. I do this with shopping, whether local or on the internet. I buy only what I set out to buy and if something else pops up I do not buy it. If three days or so later I cant live without it, then I buy it. I may buy the second item 5% of the time.

I like it - I apply many of those principles to women. I "bought" the target woman and not the neighbor's. I didn't buy the sluttiest one that I could have. When other things have popped up, I have avoided them. If I need a second one, I still have time to hit the 5% rule.

I only buy what I NEED - my "needs" just change a lot . . . that is how I ended up with a folk art gallery, one (or 2) too many LX450s, a ShopSmith, and a growing whiskey collection, for example.

On the POSITIVE side, I have yet to lose money on that stuff (maybe the Whiskey is a losing deal).

Now the time I bought the VW Eurovan, that was a loser . . but, that is a different story and was WELL before I knew you guys, who set me on the straight and narrow path to financial freedom, a healthy lifestyle, and inner love and peace.

I'm not sure I should like the above post. LOL

Well darlin, your no account MALE husband finally got around to changing those locks you have been nag....err reminding me about. :)

I have not laughed this hard all week, thank you so much.

YW! I will be on the boards all day given I am left "woman-less" at the house AND thus have tons of free time AND bored.

BTW - the bus looked pretty nice - Mega Bus to DC - double deck - they are loving the drive.

I intentionally have been avoiding the news. What's happening in DC, again? But does the bus have WIFI?! That always cracks me up when I pass them on hwy.

Its the Woman's March - all over the country. I pressed that they march here in town, but they had to go to DC as that is a big march.

I will be supporting the ladies here - maybe marching over to get some coffee. I might wear a pastel green shirt that is unusually bright for me to show my support.

Anyhoo -

That second article is spot on. Let that be my rant for today.

March for what?

That opinion article can't be serious.

"the largest protests in American history — were radiant symbols of hope and resistance at a bleak, terrifying historical juncture."

Bleak and terrifying? When? To who? Nothing in 2017 was bleak and terrifying....especially considering what our forefathers lived through and died for.

I would highly recommend to stay away from any event that is 'lead' by anyone who is so delusional as to call Louis Farrakhan the greatest of anything.

Have been playing indoor soccer in a league by my house. It's fun, gets some intense exercise in, etc. Sprained my ankle yesterday, felt bad enough at the time I thought it might be broken. Somehow this is my first time with a sprain, despite years of soccer, lacrosse and volleyball (plenty of other injuries though). Guess I was due.

Have to put wrenching projects on pause for a few days and "rest". I hate sitting still.

I sprained mine playing soccer with the kids. There was lots of swelling with blood pooling in my toes. The doctor confirmed it was a sprain and nothing broken. It took about a month to fully heal.

Something to look forward to.

I am ranting about exclusionary feminism but I'll keep that rant to myself.

A couple of years ago my wife told me that she wanted me to help her get a bunch of stuff together to have a yard sale. She started listing out all the stuff she wanted to get rid of and I was doing a little calculation in my head. I asked her what she thought she'd make on the sale. $300 - $400 was her answer. I offered to just give her $400 cash if I could take it all to Goodwill and be done with it. The last thing I want to do is to spend a whole weekend setting up a yard full of junk, tagging it, putting up signs, having people I don't know in my yard, arguing over prices, dog going ballistic, etc...only to end up taking everything that didn't get bought to Goodwill anyway. I think i got the better end of the deal.
What do you mean?!?!! You don't like haggling over 25 cents with a rude a******?

I tried, I failed. I hope it sux for them, but not so bad they get hurt, etc. Five 16-year-olds and a Mom. I think its more about eating at nice restaurants and site-seeing than principles. What do I know, I am a guy . . . I have already had too many near-drunk rants about this. I'm going to buy another bottle of Whiskey in protest.

It all reminds me that a lot of people have a lot of free time. Time enough to create movements, within movements, against those movements. And then - - time to go get publicity, form walks, run websites, churn up angry people . . . OMG are these people rich - how do they spend all this time on this stuff, etc. They could have bought a complete beater FJ40 and restored it by now with this BS . . .:)

Yes you're 100% right about those folks being privileged and preying on others. But like I said I'm not discussing any of that here and you won't find me participating in those movements, either.

That said pass the whiskey please, I was just about to click purchase button on more trucklet parts when I'm really ready to just clear codes and ignore the rattles. Vehicles need "character". I need a day of decent weather and a clear schedule.
