Her "dream job" was registering voters? I would bet you could find a lot of retired people to do that for free yet she came out of college with $50k+ in debt to register voters! What are these educated idiots thinking? Or are they thinking?

I couldn't agree more. That's exactly what I thought when I watched the video. Not everyone needs to go to college. Mike Rowe has a great point with his mikeroweWorks initiative. There are plenty of good paying blue collar jobs out there and a huge shortage of people to fill the open positions that are out there.

Apologies for a non-political rant, but I need to vent and you fine folks have this great spot to help keep me semi-sane.

It is almost 11 CST and I'm currently waiting on the dog to have a drain installed in a puncture wound he got whilst out being a dog. Now that alone wouldn't normally illicit a rant. He is 13, is a cranky old man and has been in the family almost as my lovely bride. No the rant is because this is the second visit in 2 weeks. The first was with a craigslist puppy we got that had worms and got to spend 2 days at the same vet getting pumped full of wormer and antibiotics. Moral, dont buy dogs off craigslist from strangers...

Anyway, I'm pissey because we have likely spent well over a grand on these two d@mn dogs in the last 2 weeks. I am a dog person, and I love them both, but I'm tired of having to be out getting meds and waiting on surgeries for a dog.

Its late, I'm tired, I have to get this d@mn dog home. I have to go out of town on business starting wednesday, my 9 year old starts school tomorrow, we have a 7 week old puppy at home that hasnt let us get a full nights rest in 2 weeks and I'm about to bring home a dog with a bandaged abdoman and a drain tube in his flank that will need who knows what kind of attention over the next few weeks....

Just a vent, not really mad or angry, or particularly ranty, just tired and over it.

If I hear one more talking head go off about gun control I think I'll have an embolism. I am a 59 year old gun owner with CCP. I shoot regularly on our property as does my wife, also with a CCP. I hope to God that I never am in a position where I have to point a gun at anyone in self defense. I have enough firearms education to not endanger others by wildly shooting at an active shooter if in that type of situation. Not everyone with a gun is a wild killer. The vast majority are just like me, average citizens that would like to at least be able to defend ourselves and our families from those who would do us harm. Guns have been in this country since the beginning, mass shootings are a relatively new development. What has changed? We elect our best and brightest (at least that's what I was lead to believe) and all they can dwell on is the instrument of terror, not the terror itself.

Lord help us all!

The bottom line on all of this is that the current system in place loans money to every Tom, Dick and Harry based on pretty much zero proof of payment. So they will loan a KID essentially the cost of a small starter house with no working background or credit to speak of. Now those same people are all surprised we have a "crisis". So the answer? Pay off all their loans for them at my expense. Yours too.

My question, what is being done right now to curb these loans?

That's the whole point. Loan money, hook them, then promise to pay it off 20 years later....just give us the votes. We deserve everything 'we' get.

I just wrote a letter to my Mom and noticed a few miss spelled words. I am calling for a national ban on pens. Enough is enough!!!

with pencils you had to sharpen them, which required you to stand up and walk to the front of the class. so everyone knew you pencil was dull. to avoid this uncomfortableness you would learn not to press so hard and to spell correctly so you wouldn't waste your lead. so with the introduction of pens today's children haven't had that experience and have no value for conserving lead. But, what about the eraser? it's not on a pen anymore. there was a crossover pen/eraser combo for a short time this allowed people to work throw there mistakes but, this too is gone. so yes pen and been the real culprit all this time. people are just now starting to notice the the fall out from using pens.

EDIT: But honestly, this IS an example of culture today/before. The crazy thing is there are those of us who say the same kinds of things about typing vs speaking into a computer. My daughter just told me that kids don't even type as much any more - can do everything on an ipad with a pen and voice.

I am convinced my GX470 identifies as a German car.

It is a maintenance ho. Brake calipers, cv's, the ticking manifold, SAIS (mine's still good atm), pulleys, and now the power steering pump has burned up. Not literally, but even after a full fluid flush it whines and stinks to hell. O, and the lovely peeling blizzard pearl paint...

I'd be more forgiving if this was all due to actually using it offroad; but as a DD, it's kind of disappointing.

At least the nav and ML is still awesome!

Before I moved I Replaced the AC compressor on the wife’s H3. Noticed the bushings were missing on the radiator. I called Gm sounthpoint, got the part numbers, found an online GM store and sent them the the new address. This is the crap that shows up in the box. I know its just a rubber bushing and it will probably out last my ownership. But I could of gotten Chinese off amazon.

Had that been my dogs being attacked, I would have drop kicked the other back into yesterday.

I understand the situation completely. One day as I was leaving the business I ran, my dog preceeded me out the door, went to my van and was waiting for me to open the door as she always did. Some bozo decided to walk his pit bull without a leash and when the pit bull saw my dog she started to run for an attack. My dog being smaller managed to get under the van where the pit bull couldn't reack her. All I could see was the butt of the pit bull sticking out from under the van and I kicked the dog as hard as I could with my steel toed shoes on. The dog moved but didn't seem to notice. It then walked out to the road and walked into the path of a car which simply grazed the head with a thump. The dog walked off as if nothing had happened. If I had my pistol on me the outcome would have been very, very different.
