Tools needed for my lift kit install?

I was planning on ordering the kit early next week. But it seems like all the other costs of buying a truck (registration, GAS!!, etc) keep getting in the way. I will probably have to wait until mid July to order the kit, an then wait for however long shipping a large order like that would take :/
I'll make sure to keep y'all updated though once I finally get it and am ready to install

I went with the Mojave from MAF. So far very happy. Ride is outstanding. Only minor complaint is they didn't send all of the longer ubolts for the flip kit. 5 extended ones and 3 short ones, as well as 4 of the wrong bushing ID sizes for the shocks. Not too big of a deal though and they sent the right parts for free. Always picked up the phone and friendly to deal with

I had my eye on the kit from MAF but that thing is pretty expensive. Even the IM that I'm planning on getting is a lot.
I would like to do the inverted U bolts though.

I would say the most handy thing to have was the air tools. All my old hardware came out with ease. If you don't do S/R with different hangers, etc it will be even easier. I would say a lot of my time was spent getting my hangers right, and they still need al ittle adjusting before I weld them.

Get em welded up SOON, that's a lot of pressure on just four bolts, plus it's a single shear application, not as strong as double shear.

Plan on it, its not being driven at the moment (much anyway) just down the road and back. A little bit o' bending and then have my friend weld them up because I aint the best welder. Then back on with the bumper!

Just finished my ironman lift last weekend and am amazed at how much better the truck rides and drives. Think at any particular moment I had a floor jack, two bottle jacks and stands in use.

Actually, FJ40 springs and FJ60 springs are the same width, but they are much too short to use in the rear of an FJ60 or 62. It's the bushing lip that's wider on an FJ60/62.

They're too short, but I thought early FJ40 (prior to 1980) were also more narrow than FJ60 springs?

And do you know how much overall lift you got? I'm still on 31s so I'm hoping it won't look too gay.
Also, did you install extended brake lines? I'm thinking i probably should go with those Stainless steel ones.

I do have new lines to install, but doubt that you would have to use them. I am on 31"s also, from the floor to the center of the bottom of the fender lips is 35 7/8" in the front and 36 1/4" in the back. It will easily fit 33"s but it doesn't look to bad on 31"s.

Sweet! Since you have time before install, might be a good idea to go through everything and make sure it's all there and correct. Being a smart college guy you prolly already plan on it

Yep, I'm still waiting on shackles since my dumb ass thought I was going to re use the old ones and forgot to tell ACC I wasn't haha.
But other than that, I'm doing well with the parts and part numbers. Got a whole bunch of new tools, torches, grease gun, metric sockets, etc and a couple more experienced mech people who are going to help so I'm feeling pretty good

Yes it looks like an ome kit on yiur rig right now. They also have the plus and minus signs on their springs

The shackles on it right now are 2" extended and I don't want that much lift overall right now.

Well, I did the install last weekend with the help of RJ (rjs78 on mud) and his friend and everything went smooth as silk, besides the grease able pins, fxxx those guys.
The only real problem is that the new shackles and springs in the front don't create as much lift as the extended shackles did... So the front actually lowered down about an inch hahaha. So, couple that with about a 2.75" - 3" increase in the rear, you got a MAJOR stink bug. I'm ok with the rear being a little higher than the front, but a 4" difference looks pretty dumb.
This week I'm going to replace the new IM shackles up front with the extended shackles I already had on and hopefully, after the rear settles down some, it will level out more

TIP: don't burn pins/bushings with map gas for a few minutes, then immediately pound on them while wearing shorts.... Hence the pants..
